@Denman-John How bad was the storm? Come out of it fairly well?
-
@goosehd It rained and blew but wasn’t as intense as the first one. The wind died down early this morning and rained on and off all day. The ferry was running this morning so we drove down to Victoria for a day trip.

And people say global warming is a myth….

@tody Corporate HQ keeps changing the way they need the billing submitted in order to get paid. I speak to someone, come to an agreement on how they want things worded, and 3 months down the road everything changes. I have submitted some invoices for payment at least 6 or 7 times only to find out, that something isn't worded correctly and they can't pay until it's fixed on my end. No one ever contacts me to discuss what those changes are...
I submitted a trouble ticket on 7 outstanding invoices a few weeks ago, only to get a response last night that I needed to make further corrections. I then asked via the ticket support (all online) to get a manager of accounts phone number to get this fixed once and for all. The response from them is:
"Hello Vendor
As per our procedure we are not permitted to contact to the manager please provide the revise copy with billing address as soon as possible for making the payment.
Thank you
Regards,
AP Department" - copied verbatim
I could say fuck it all and get rid of them, but it's 40 plus clinics now and a fairly significant source of our income. When we started all of this, Laura and I swore that we would never "work" for anyone again. Now, even though we own our own business, I feel like I'm back to working for the "man" again.
Sorry for the rant.

@goosehd said in Random Rants:
Corporate conglomerates are ruining Veterinary Medicine for everyone involved from clients, patients, staff, and vendors.
The same way they loot nursing homes, funeral service, houses...you name it.
Then media is shocked, shocked! that a health care denier is killed. Tremendous manhunt because money.
Good riddance. I hope it starts a trend. -
@steelworker The disconnect in corporate culture between profitability and humanity is definitely troubling. I really can’t condone the violence taken out on the insurance executive, but I do see why it’s happened.
Too many families, loved ones, and friends lives have been affected by policies written to enhance the bottom line that they’ve forgotten that people are on the other side of the equation.
The same is happening in the veterinary fields where clinicians are to meet profitability standards or else be disciplined or let go from their positions.
I don’t know what the answer is, but we need to start asking the question of how much is enough? Violence is not the answer, nor is it acceptable for people’s quality of life to suffer for profit.
The answer is much bigger than any one of us, but maybe we all need to ask the question.

Oh, they know what theyre doing. They count on us to remain docile.

@steelworker the internet is the great equalizer, in that everyone has all the information available at the click of a mouse. Unfortunately, most people don't know how to use the internet. Critical analysis and appraisal takes time and effort, and who has either?
-
@Tago-Mago Maybe if there wasn’t an IH forum?…
There always seems plenty of time to analyse and appraise IH products.
-
@Mister_Brue priorities!
-
@steelworker it feels to me like the days of obedience and compliance are about over
Edit: I could be wrong and people would rather just sigh and look back at their phone
