We just turned one of our garages into an office for my wife and her event production business. Prior to that, her office was also the guest bedroom downstairs in our finished basement. It was a pretty big drag and even though we had upgraded with more space when we moved here we felt more space constrained.
With the conversion of the garage to a dedicated office, we rotated the master bedroom downstairs to what was her office and the guest bedroom, my office to the former master, and my former office became a dedicated guest room.
It’s really wild how much this has transformed the house and its livability.
She has a dedicated office customized to her business needs and able to take drop shipments through the garage door as needed. We added some Barcelona chairs and a table and chairs for meetings and are adding more decor but here is a bookshelf and storage area and a work table that folds down and out of the way:
I have a nicer, larger office.
Guests have a dedicated space and privacy as Hattie’s room and the master is now downstairs. This also resolves some challenges regulating the temperature. It was hard to have a survivable temperature upstairs without freezing Hattie to death in the summer.
The downstairs master is tomblike and restorative sleep comes naturally, AND it has a huge walk-in closet.
But the downstairs 3/4 bath is not great. So we are putting in a soaking tub, double vanity, and just making it better overall.
We will also be building a linen closet into the unused space at the end of the hallway next to Hattie’s room and the bathroom.

@mclaincausey That is a serious undertaking. You’re inspiring me to get on with all the work I need to do here.

Cheers fellas. Here are some more pics of Brandi’s office.
Doggy door for our big fella:

Here are a couple of other enhancements we made.
Floating shelves and doggie dining
Wine area
After we finish the new master bath, linen closet, and some other stuff we will be done for a while. But I want to redo our kitchen, sand down the floors, and add a wet bar to the basement den down the road.

The office and other renovations look great, but aren't you worried about the bear that's now wandering your hallway?

How's the reverbs/echo's in Brandi's office, I would have thought some sound deadening carpet/art work would be needed. I had to put acoustic foam panels on the top of our kitchen units in the new kitchen, because just about everything is hard in the kitchen. Still not as quiet as I would like....
-
@Giles you could use some sound clouds to deaden the echoes.

No reverb issue at all but we do have some wall hangings that will dampen on order!
