The Evolution of Iron Heart

@twin How long did you have the old one? Inspiring stuff.
-
@Mister_Brue I would say 10 years or so.

Hello nice people from all over the world
I'd like to share some evo pictures of my 21oz 888s that I bought in March '24:
I really like how they've developed.
Have a great weekend!

@RobeOfTheMagi I really like how they've developed too! Awesome fades man. I had a pair and sold them, they looked a lot like these. Makes me miss 'em!
-
Yes, they're lovely mate.I really enjoy the process of fading them by simple living my life. While I change my sweaters and shirts fairly regularly, I wear this pair of jeans nearly every day that is not too warm. I bike commute, teach and arm wrestle in them <3.
-
Initially I thought they'd produce these high contrast fades you see on other very heavy denim. I only learned about the evolution of 21oz denim after buying them.
-
@RobeOfTheMagi They look where I'm looking to get! Wears / washes / soaks?
-
@indigostiff Thank you! I think I've soaked them after a week of wear and they got the first machine wash after about 20 weeks of wear. From then on I've washed them another 5-6 times. I don't think delaying washes after the first machine wash compromises the fades anymore.
They got about 180 days of wear and probably many hundred kilometres of bike riding.

This might be considered cheating but I'm not participating in any fading competitions. I actually don't like washing my jeans after every hike through forests or after playing with my son in the sand.
I think it's much more resourceful to simply brush dirt and dust off. I've good a high quality cloth brush with horse hair and bronze bristles.
-
@RobeOfTheMagi As long as the brush isn't scratching the surface of the denim to the point where the fades are artificial (not sure if this is possible), I would not consider it "cheating" at all. My two cents.

@RobeOfTheMagi Fades are a reflection of how you live your life. If brushing was to fade your jeans, then so be it; it is how you clean them.
Washing also fades jeans, so…
