American Football (NFL)

@Tago-Mago oh yeah I’m sure there is but I’m not as familiar with the protocol in college.

@SKT While I never once thought that The Chiefs were the best team in the NFL,I never stopped thinking that they were the best coached team in the NFL. Unless you can blow them out or get a big early lead,you have to play 60 minutes of mistake free football. If the Chiefs beat Texas,then the AFC Championship game should be epic.

It’s also about scheme and strategy. Ravens were plenty well coached last year but failed to win the conference because they didn’t lean into what was working for their offense (rushing) and needlessly turned it into an air raid.
This year they’re stronger on rushing and passing offense and unless they repeat those strategic mistakes I expect them to prevail over a comparatively weaker Chiefs squad, assuming they get by Houston and Buffalo, respectively.

So many of these games come down to someone making a mistake. How does Pete Carroll not just hand the ball off to Marshawn Lynch,after he had just ran the ball down to the 2 yard line. He thought he was slick,but Malcom Butler had practiced that when they line up like that,It's a pass,and the rest is history. Steve Spagnola even said in interviews he never understood why The Ravens stopped running the ball. Lamar did miss a couple of throws,they had a fumble,and lo and behold you get beat by a seemingly inferior team.

God the whole world minus Pete Carroll was in disbelief at that play call. Not only was it perhaps the worst play call in league history from a strategy perspective (and I’d love to hear some other candidates from y’all), it also felt like a slap in the face to Marshawn, kind of like Refrigerator Perry scoring a touchdown when Walter Payton didn’t in SB XX.

@mclaincausey This is pretty interesting.

@Jett129 I’m not a Seahawks fan. I am a Marshawn fan though. And kind of a Patriots hater because they won their first two SB at least on Vinatieri’s foot after having cheated by filming opponent walkthroughs. So that’s two SB that they very likely wouldn’t have won if they hadn’t cheated. Then Carroll gives them another. So half of their championships are partially attributable to cheating and the opponent gifting them a game. That’s just too close to fraudulence to sit right with me, and I haven’t even mentioned DeflateGate.
Absolute respect for what the defense did during that dynasty though.
Sue me, Pats fans.

And as for Petes blunder for not running it, not enough credit is given to Bill for looking across the field and realizing the Seahawks were waiting on the Pats to call a timeout. Bill and his humongous stones, not only prepped for the situation but did not follow norms by not calling the timeout. IMO played a large part in this terrible playcall.

Pats fan out. Need to at least defend the glory days ️

I have to say that after watching Bill Belichick on the Manning Cast this season,I’m totally in awe of his football mind. Whenever he came on that show he knew everything about every player on every team. He never mailed it in. Whenever he commented on the player’s actions what they should be doing versus what they were doing he was 100% always right.

Agreed and same with Peyton. That show is a great format when you aren’t too invested in a game.
