Watches - another OCD problem
-
@Cole Sweet watch, Cole.
You should tell your wife that it is necessary as now you can dive to 600m and not lose track of time and be on time for date night.
What's the screw on the top left? I have not seen that before.
-
It is a Helium escape valve...
-
@Graeme I also like the carbon version, very handsome watch.
I would also, like you, assume it is for technical reasons they have not implemented a rotating bezel.
Bit of a shame really considering that Tudor have managed to manufacture a carbon case with a rotating bezel on the FXD Alinghi models.
-
@Giles speaking of that, I keep seeing trailers for a movie
with Woody Harrelson that appears to be about an ill-fated saturation dive. I am intrigued. Guessing there will be dive watch cameos. -
@Giles Aha! Thanks Giles.
Looks like a feature that Q could modify for James Bond to shoot a poison dart or pour a (weak) martini.
-
@Cole that’s a lovely watch

Decided yesterday to pull the trigger on a long time want. Probably close to 20 years in the making. Picked it up today. Absolutely love it. IWC big pilot
@Giles do you still have that platinum one you were holding on to for a friend or something? I can’t remember the details totally
-
Amazing score @kkibbey23, I wish I had the wrist to handle such a beast!
But speaking of IWC and long time wants…..
-
@Anesthetist Amazing Chrono! I was just looking on the website, it has an open case back right? I really like that too. IWC makes some really sweet stuff. Congrats to you too! Did you just get it also?
@Giles I’d love to see some pictures of it
Thanks
IH hoodie pic… It will be a while before this comes off my wrist!
-
@kkibbey23 thank you, I just nabbed it Weds. It is the newer version w the in house movement w the sapphire back. I almost ended up w an Airking but have wanted this too long to pass on it. I still do want a big pilot albeit the 43mm.
@Giles great watch

Watches and Wonders is coming in a few weeks, and new watches are being released in the run-up. Blancpain has just announced the Fifty Fathoms Tech - Ocean Commitment IV, which is a 45 mm titanium piece. Jason Heaton drew the short straw and got sent to the Philippines to test it.
The watch looks quite nice, but I'd probably get a Bathyscaphe in titanium in preference.
-
That FF Tech leaves me cold. Not differentiated enough and a lot of coin for it. The main visual differentiation is something I don’t want (He escape valve).
I’d go Glashutte SeaQ Panorama Date. Way cheaper and more interesting IMHO.
-
@mclaincausey I like the SeaQ Panorama Data more than the Fifty Fathoms, and I think that it's better finished. However, the FF is a bit slimmer, which makes it more wearable.
Of course, I'd probably buy an Omega Ploprof instead, which is the same sort of price, and far less practical...
