This is absolutely class but I can't order anything else, can I?

Hmmm difficult measurements for me. Medium is a no-go, but even large looks pretty skinny at the opening. Surely sizing up to XL would be overkill. Wish I knew how this will respond to the dryer. If it behaves like UHF, I may a well get the smallest XL.
Great, now I know what I’ll be obsessing over for the next 24 hours!

Given this is unbrushed what's the feel like? IE (perhaps a silly question) is this going to feel more akin to a wool overshirt in which case it's really meant to be sized up over a basic layering piece OR is it something you'd be comfortable wearing over just a t shirt (and therefore closer fitting)?
What I am getting at is where is this on a spectrum relative to brushed UHF?

The fact that it is a CPO suggests it is intended to be worn over a base layer. Not that you have to, but that is the intention. In fact the western style CPO’s have a subtley different pattern to make room for both the handwarmer pockets and a layer underneath.

So torn on the sizing on this. Thinking I might need to go up one based on the measurements.

I know I will have to. With a shirt this heavy, it might not be a bad idea.

I'm also on the fence on sizing. The measurements kinda line up with a UHF for me at L, but the shoulder/sleeve isn't too long on XL, and I'd get a little more P2P space.
I'd love to hear from the crew whether they take their UHF size on this or go up one if wearing this over a t-shirt or thermal.

So I've currently got the following IH shirts and I'm generally happy with the fit of all of them:
IHSH-235-BLK (13oz Military Serge Western) in S - probably my best fitting shirt of the bunch, but it's from the first run and if I bought one from the latest batch I'd probably need a M based on the updated measurements
IHSH-232 (UHF Western Red Buffalo Check) in M - wish it was a hair smaller but the S I tried was a little too snug
IHSH-279-BLK (7oz Soft Flannel Work Shirt) in S - this could also be a hair smaller but XS would be way too small, and I generally prefer the cut of the western shirts
Leaning heavily toward a M in this one but would appreciate any advice before these drop tomorrow. Only planning on a t-shirt underneath and will worn unbuttoned 90% of the time. Generally I like my shirts to fit very slim through the whole arm and across the chest, with a little more room in the lower torso.

If you’re after a trim chest and room in the lower torso, this shirt might not supply the fit you want in any size. Seems like the waist and opening are slim, while the chest remains true to size.
I’ve decided I’m going to size up to XL to be able to button the shirt all the way to the bottom, and I’ll just hope the chest and shoulder don’t look ridiculous. I also am doing this because I like to be able to machine wash and dry my flannels and not give two shits about any shrinkage.

I consider 20.2/20.3 in the waist & opening to be "roomy" in the lower torso.
For reference my ideal fitting shirt would be:
Shoulder: 16.5
Chest: 20.7
Waist: 20
Opening: 20 -
This will be one of the sleeper hits of the season me thinks.
