Photograph and Camera talk

@weftyarn These days when the lighting is just so photographically unfriendly,I look to B&W if I think I have an image worth working with. And once I get that I test some of the Selective Color stuff. When I took the picture of the Coke sign I anticipated,if it was going to be any good, that it would be with the Selective Color. I always look forward to your photography. Love these as well as your pictures from the IH party.

great shots @alexxedge
first is my favorite, love the composition on it and the summer vibe i get from looking at it!@Jett129 with these selective color shots, is it anticipating or do you anctually actively plan the shots in advance? this one looks like it, perfectly balanced. can imagine having some random red in the background would make post processing a nightmare for example?

@weftyarn thanks! It was from a recent trip back home to Atlanta to see some family, and got out VERY early in the AM. If you’re ever there, this spot is less than a mile from the Guilty Party shop. Highly recommend, it’s run by some awesome folks.

@weftyarn The shot with the sign was planned/anticipated as I had done a Selective Color shot with a Coca-Cola truck ,earlier this year, when I was in Barcelona. The shot with the boat was just kind of random,as I thought the reflection looked nice. One of my photography mantras is…You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. Although, most of the time, those shots get deleted, and occasionally it works out, like the shot with the boat.

@Jett129 Leica Q fixed lens 28mm. There were a couple that I really liked and the others that I thought were decent. The one of the guitarist was one where I couldn't get a clear shot as it was a busy walkway. Tried going down the steps and take a picture from the other direction and he looked directly at the camera...
Worked hard for that one and it could have turned out really well if I could have got the timing right.
The fixed lens made me work for a lot of the shots and I definitely need to work more with it. It's such an easy camera to use that I need to use my eye more and work on my timing better.
@weftyarn and I discussed pictures and the only people who look great in pictures when they know they are being photographed are models...the rest of us look better when we are caught off guard

@Tago-Mago I wish they did...new world vs. old world doesn't have a lot of similarities. Not saying that there isn't something beautiful in both, but I love the look of Lisbon and the colours used everywhere.

@Jett129 It was We stayed in an area called the Barrio Alto (historic area) and absolutely loved it there with lots to see and do. I also photo dumped from my iPhone in the Lisbon thread. It rained 4 days while we were there and I only took the Leica out the one day.
Should have taken it out more as even in the rain (sometimes pouring) the city was beautiful.
