Found this striking little guy on my front steps as I was coming in. I think it’s a hawthorn shieldbug.

Look at this crazy lookin' fecker. Looks like a wasp, actually is a fly. You can tell by the eyes...beady little eyes. It's called the Virginia flower fly.

@goosehd @Oaktavia Got this action shot a few weeks ago while walking the dog. This butterfly circled me several times…enough that I could get out my phone and snap him in flight. No idea why he was interested in us

@SKT I just need to find a spot lol maybe somewhere on my neck...I found that monarchs seem to have an otherworldly majesty to them. They really are remarkable creatures.

A couple oldies. One was fishing on the Potomac up near Sheperdstown, and the other during a garage jam session. Hope my buddy doesn't mind his pic on here lol. That guy landed right on his face like that.
