Iron Heart Products - What do you think we should make?
-
(I know it has been suggested before, but I would like to emphasise this one more time):
an Iron Heart M51 parka - would beat everything
I know it's associated with mods/scooters, and therefore probably not a 'biker's thing', but it is also a great piece of garment to wear over basically everything when the forces of nature get really strong.
I wore mine (which is only mediocre replica) last year on Spitsbergen at temperatures below -30°C (-35F) as top layer, and it was a very good protection against winds and snow storms. And due to it's oversize wear, you can still move despite several layers beneath. Actually, it's not so much different from the parkas that arctic explorers such as Shackleton and Amundsen used. And you all know, it has been made to withstand the cold during the Korean war.

…and why they did not sell well is anyone’s guess [emoji2369]
These in a 634S cut I would buy immediately! [emoji41]What Alex_24 said. The only reason I didn't purchase is because they are 555 cut. My body relegates me to the 888 cut in almost all cases.

Yep it was the cut for me too!

I’m going to guess it was because people saw «serge»
That was sort of my point. If I had called it denim, it probably would have sold better and about 1 in a 1,000 customers would have been nerdy enough to know the technical differences in a serge and a denim weave and pick me up on it (well denim is a serge weave anyway)….
Put me in this ignorant camp! I seriously considered these because I love my double indigo shirt (IHSH-159) and am one of the people asking for heavy weight double indigo 555s.
I have returned IH goods before but I've never bought something without being sure at the time, correctly or incorrectly, that I wanted it. If you asked me what the difference between my jeans and chinos are I'd probably mumble 'twill' and 'weave' without being sure if they were the same thing. Add into that that whilst I like my Wabash shirt (IHSH-62-IND) it doesn't strike me as jean like and there were just too many question marks for me to take the plunge without seeing them in person.
Shame really because maybe these were exactly what I was looking for…. Perhaps it was the double indigo that put some people off but I'm sure there were others like me who were unsure of Serge.

There has been a lot of talk about us re-running an indigo/indigo denim.
But, these sold like crap….

I know it's not denim, but even so......
I can't really do the 555 cut and also that is not selvedge denim. So those 2 things were why I didn't care for that particular pair.
Although, if you had some non-selvedge serge/denim/whatever and made a STRAIGHT LEG jean that had a felled in and outseam I'd be all over that.

Can't remember: Were there any plans for a non-fade selvedge superblack in 634?

Nice

@Giles I know you said Haraki won't/can't do anything heavier than 25 oz. But I was thinking today about the double rope dyed indigo debate, and like what about 25 oz double rope dyed indigo left hand twill? It kind of has a nice ring to it, to me at least.

The IHSW-13-GRY is one of my absolute favourite items. It is what you describe here and deserves to be a permanent item imho.
I don’t know if the sales back me up on that, which is one of the many reasons I am not managing a successful niche clothing line [emoji1]

That sounds like a great idea [emoji362]

I really like the pattern on the reverse of the hickory stripe work shirts. I’d totally buy a work shirt made of this!

I know there are Good Art/OGL etc. offerings, but… Iron Heart

I’d love an IH denim bottom specifically aimed at motorcycle use that provides pockets for protective pads at hips and knees. The Shinayaka stretch denim would be an ideal fabric for comfort during long hours on the bike. If abrasion resistant fibers could be included (kevlar, …), all the better.
I currently ride with a pair of Revit jeans and substituting those for an IH pair would be perfect. The fades from motorcycling activity would be epic and presumably different than those due to physical labor activities (or office duties).
Those pics are from a recent trip and the Revit denim fades are nothing great. I can just imagine what those bottoms would look like if the were IH. I would hope that a motorcycle jean would interest the japanese market too, maybe more so than the non-Japan customer base.
I understand that making samples is risky due to the very high initial cost…I would be willing to pay up front for the first sample if made in my size. Has IH had this discussion before given its strong slant towards the motorcycle community in Japan?
