@Jett129 10-year, and it’s great. Been my go-to since the Buffalo Trace became unobtainable. The whiskey inflation of anything over 10 years has taken a toll lately though. Even though I consider this not only a better deal than Russell’s single barrel, but a better whiskey altogether, it’s starting to reach the price that I don’t consider a “great buy”. The way the market is going, they’re starting to price anything worth buying at the limit of what you could consider a “good deal” for the quality. McKenna 10year bib, for example, has more than doubled in price over the past few years. When I bought it for 30$ it was a killer deal, now it’s just meh for 70$. I haven’t yet resigned myself to Wild Turkey 101, but anything worth a shit is starting to get priced beyond its value. Bulliet 10 is still a solid buy readily available and is now cheaper than Russell’s, despite Russell’s being 10$ cheaper jets a year or so ago.

@WhiskeySandwich Thanks so much for the response,as I’m always looking for value in my bourbon purchases. The Eagle Rare 10 year used to bemy go to at between 29-34.99 a bottle. Can’t,currently, find it in my neck of the woods. The McKenna still holding at $56.99 out here. I should probably grab a bottle. The Russel’s 10 is currently $44.98 and the Single Barrels are going for $57.98. Thanks again.

@Jett129 no prob! Yeah, I’ve been on the list for Eagle for over a year, allocations spread thin. That’s a decent price for McKenna.

Here’s one I got to reward myself for completing 60 booze free days (went with the turkey one on the right):
More here about the spirit.

@mclaincausey I would, also, highly recommend the ArteNom 1579,and the ArteNom 1123,which is ever so slightly immersed in wet Mezcal barrels.
-
1579 doesn’t miss
-
@mclaincausey Looking forward to finally getting 2 bottles of Wild Common,on Wednesday.
-
@Jett129 let me know your thoughts!
They also distribute a few mezcals but I’ve not tried those.
-
@mclaincausey My initial taste was disappointing, and I felt like maybe I fell for the hype. The nose was very nice, not like anything I could compare it to. The first sip was surprisingly hot and harsh for being only 92 proof. The big disappointment was that there was zero agave taste. It was more like a scotch kind of smokiness and mouthfeel, which I didn’t like,as I’m not a scotch drinker. Making a pork butt tomorrow and will be having some friends who are mezcal aficionados over, and will give it another tasting with orange slices and Sal de Gusano, and some BBQ. Hopefully that helps. Will report back.
-
@Jett129 which bottle is this, one of the mezcals? Doesn’t sound like the blanco or blanco still strength
-
@mclaincausey If you go back to the original post where I tagged you they said it started out as Mezcal 20 years ago. Sounds like they forgot about it,decided to bottle it. I probably should’ve been a little bit more skeptical…Only 59 bottles, but 20% off on a pre-sale. If it was all that good it should’ve been a lot more money. There was another one in the lot that was about 120 proof and a bit more money so I went for this one. Stay tuned.

@mclaincausey This is the one that I passed on.
-
@Jett129 ah I saw that but thought you were referring to the Wild Common. Gotcha
-
@mclaincausey The Wild Common was/is just absolutely delicious. Wonderful agave flavor, great nose and mouthfeel. It was on sale for $45 a bottle. Glad I bought two of them. I’ve liked everything I’ve ever gotten from NOM1123,and this is no exception.
