@ddtrash As it is now gone…very good and at the time a great buy. Bought it about 3 years ago and would have a dram or two occasionally over the last few years. Being 21 years old, it was very smooth with some great flavours. Especially liked that it was aged in Sherry casks…
Would I buy it again? Yes, if I can find it (might have found one and just double checking on current stock).
I typically drink my scotch neat and after dinner. It was a great scotch for those occasions and one I would recommend.

@goosehd Thanks for the feedback, I will keep an eye out for it. Always good to learn about new things, especially whisky.
My whisky of choice at the moment is Springbank 15. Hard to find but I have a couple of bottles in reserve. It gets released periodically through the year. Most stockists don't put it on the shelves to help deter the speculators who buy to sell.

the mezcal rabbit hole is deep too if you like to nerd out. look up a spirit called “sotol,” it’s made similar to a mezcal but not with cactus in the part of mexico my family is from. sipped neat it is glorious.
-
@Tago-Mago I bet that was really good.
-
@indigo_nico love sotol

@TinMan I love that rye,makes a great Old Fashioned. This time of year I also splash a little maple syrup in it.
First time experiencing, not disappointed. So far I have had it neat, on a rock or two, next on the list a yummy maple old fashioned happy fall Jett

@Jett129 Love a Rye old fashioned with a touch of maple in it, thats my standard recipe. In the summer we make a peach syrup for summer fashioneds.
On another note, i seent yall throwing around negronies and had never had one so i got curious. When i go to themed restaurants i usually try the native cocktails there. So italian cocktail at an italian restaurant and so on...tried it and instantly loved it. Sorta like an italian gin old fashioned i guess lol. well i picked up some hendricks, campari, and sweet vermouth and started making my own. Now i'm hooked. thanks.

@WhiskeySandwich if you're into mezcal you can substitute the gin with mezcal. Also a nice variation
-
@Tago-Mago omg i love mezcal

@WhiskeySandwich Pro Tip…I use The Pappy & Company maple syrup that’s been aged in 23 year old bourbon barrels. It’s absolutely insane how good it is. They put it on sale every year on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I buy 3,give one as a present and keep the other 2. They have another one that’s been aged in regular bourbon barrels,it’s cheaper but doesn’t compare. It’s the best maple syrup I’ve ever had.
-
I have a bottle of that pappy maple!
Another riff on the Last Word is the Final Ward, rye and yellow (some recipes green) chartreuse-based with lemon instead of lime.

My favorite negroni is a La Rosita.
Kind of a perfect (sweet & dry vermouth) negroni made with your favorite tequila in a 3:1:1:1 ratio / (tequila:dry:sweet:campari). Personally, I think a reposado does the best here but also good with your favorite blanco. Adding a dash of grapefruit bitters is nice too.For favorite Last Word riff, it's easily the industry sour;
Fernet Branca / Green Chartreuse / Simple Syrup / Lime -
Dang I got a lot of booze to try this weekend 🫡
