I am sure this has been asked. But why is the waist oversized in these?

I keep looking a size 33. But the waist is massive.

This is what the product page says….

Sanforized, but unwashed - expect some shrinkage, possibly one inch in both the waist and the inseam.

Why they are oversized does not really mattter, fact is they are.  Effing irritating, but fact....

and copped!  Fabric is the coolest of the three 21oz iterations I own (21S, black, and these) Surprisingly comfy even before breakin/soak, even in 80F temps.  I'll get some fit pics up before long.

Warm soaked in the shower and worn dry–feel like this fit is the most dialed in of any jeans I own; really liking it right off the bat!

Thanks so much guys! Def happy with the fit.  The fabric settled quite a bit after the soak–esp at the cuffs.

@spitfiredealer yes, sized down to a 31 as my waist was swimming in the one 32 I tried on.

@alex Like I wasn't in enough trouble with my IH obsession before you moved into Seattle--Absolute lost cause now!

Copped my pair in-store at Division Road today to celebrate their carrying of IH goods.

They get to join the rotation with my IH-555S-BLK and IH-555-01s. I'm very f'n partial to black though, and they'll likely become the rotation.

I have been looking at these for weeks, I am planning on getting some to wear in the office and will be tucking a shirt in, so I am thinking the slightly more generous sizing will work for me. I have some 32's in the 555-01, and am looking at the 32's in the 555-03, they have a 34.0 and 34.4 waist respectively, which I think will work in the way I want to wear them…

... the one slight dilemma I have is the rise, the 555-03 have best part of half an inch extra on the front and an inch at the back... in the past I have found this gives the feeling of a tighter waist band...

... any one found this when comparing the to 555-1 cut?
