good call on Beats part - but it's a little bit of comparing apples and oranges
The 1000 milers have been recently revamped and are using Horween leathers, they're not really roughneck boots but will last and are kinda dressy in a bygone days way
RW are more like workboots (although the style you chose isn't unlike the wolverines) - leather quality isn't as fine as the other two but usually is pretty good at taking punishment
Aldens are probably the class act- but you'll pay a bit more. I find them less work-like and more dressy but as Beats said they're good enough for deserts, jungles and all sorts of terrain with Dr Jones!
Nothing to be confused about - pick the one you like!

the wolverine's i've been seeing lately have been sort of lower in quality than in the past.
you cant go wrong with red wing's. good all around boot that will last.
the aldens get my vote though. i love mine.

Knowing Ed, they're Wagyu calf hide custom made by a 100 year old master Japanese bootmaker who came out of retirement just to make a pair for him.

to those that own a pair of white's boots (particularly the semi dress):
i'm looking at a pair online but i am unsure of sizing. I am a 9d in an Alden Indy, and a 9 in RW. I'm wondering if White's run big? I found a pair of 8.5's online that i really want.
