We know you love IH, but where do you think we can improve?

Yes. Overall DHL were positively shite. They lost more packages in 2 months than we have ever lost with UPS, they misrouted a massive amount of parcels, they consistently fed me bullshit which cost us $100's in charges we should not have been hit with, when they mis-billed me and agreed that they had indeed mis-billed me, told me to raise a case for a refund. And to cap it all, I had to get on my bended knees to plead for daily pick up later than 14:00. Oh, and their online shipping system is a heap of cow dung, that wasted us minutes per order. It was not a very pleasant experiment…...

@Giles, you guys are back to using UPS? Is this permanent? UPS is super inconvenient and I preferred DHL.
I'm amazed that every time this DHL vs. UPS issue comes up that there are such wild diffferences between the service the same company provides in different areas of the world or even in a country. In the town where I live we have a permanent DHL courier (who I happen to know personally and is irreverently brilliant at his job. DHL as a company are fucking bandits mind you, but John-Harry is a star). UPS on the other hand, don't exist in Norway outside of Oslo and rely on the Norwegian postal service network completely (they manage nevertheless to be fucking bandits too).
Given the global market that IHUK serves and given that UPS and DHL's worldwide service is clearly has local variations, in addition to the varying levels of professionalism of their drivers, it's going to be impossible to keep all the people happy all the time without overheads exploding.
Having recently gained some insight into how IHUK approach shipping, I can assure you all that they do their absolute best to give us the best experience they can, and don't change shipping policies on a whim or because it's easier/cheaper for them.

Cheaper actually is not the main driver (excuse the pun) when selecting the shipping company we use. If it was, we'd be sticking with DHL….
I was given a brilliant pitch by DHL, the sales guy did a great job, when he came in unannounced (because he knew if he got me on the phone, I'd have told him to go spin), and I believed almost everything he said - and they were cheaper (by a long way) than UPS, so we gave them a go.
It was a mistake.

Good choice. DHL is the most crappy Service in my area, UPS never disappointed.
-
If it helps (I doubt it) my own personal experience is that DPD have consistently provided the best service to me.

Strange. The DHL packages get to me quicker. Sometimes the next day.
-
Might be quicker, but I lost 4 (or 5) packages within the last years. Calling DHL never did anything, they were not able to locate my parcel, nor change the adress.

DPD remain our carrier of choice in UK, we love them…..Oh, and their driver, Paddy, is the nicest most jovial, most smile inducing pick up guy I know. I have known him for 11 years and he calls me on my mobile if he needs to talk.......He calls me a twat, which rather endears me to him.....

I was going to say that just means that he knows you

interesting.. i've always preferred DHL and never had a problem with them. couldn't really comment from a business prospective as providing 3PL and being a customer waiting for a parcel is on a totally different spectrum. the only time i get UPS deliveries is only from IHUK i reckon, never had a problem either. with that said, i'm rather lucky to have not lost any parcels i've ordered before. (touch wood)

Ah I see, that is rather unfortunate. Well I don't blame you guys at all for changing back then.

and honestly I have never had any incidents with UPS either, but it all boiled down to the simple fact that doing the signature release was so much more user friendly with DHL than it is with UPS and that one simple thing made getting deliveries from IHUK so much smoother.
With DHL I would get a text or email on my phone saying I have a package coming and with a couple clicks of a button on my cell phone I could waive the signature release and have my package waiting at my door for me within two to three days from shipment. I literally spent 25 minutes yesterday on my UPS account online trying to figure out how to waive the signature and eventually I had to contact customer service to figure it out. After all of that they told me it's still up to the drivers discretion whether or not to leave the package at my front door and if they don't I have to pick the package up from a UPS hub some where in town. Extremely inconvenient.
with that being said I do have the option to have it delivered to a local UPS store by my house but that pushes the delivery back one to two days. First world problems I know and maybe a selfish voice of concern, but just wanted to explain where I was coming from.
