I'll be OK, I'm just doing what grown ups do, having a drink and remembering those who passed away. Cheers
-
@injunjack Sorry for your losses.
-
@injunjack sorry to hear hope you find joy in remembering them
-
@injunjack double kicker in the guts. Sorry to hear it man. Those memories are the most important thing.
-
Enjoy the drink @injunjack

Well that sucks man sorry to hear it.
We have a neighbor who leaves their dog outside and it barks so loud it has awakened me from a block away through closed double paned windows. I don’t know how they themselves sleep. If that weren’t bad enough, the dog was outside frantically barking this morning at 3AM when I was heading to the airport and it was well below freezing.
Why get a dog if you don’t give a shit about dogs?
This sociopath has now entered criminal territory and will be facing long overdue consequences. That poor animal.

@SKT I'm right with you. MN had 66 on Monday and it's 6 today.

@jordanscollected these wild swings are brutal…my sinuses feel like they might implode

@ROman So, here on holiday, it appears that having a loud video call in the restaurants with random people I do not give a fuck about and want to hear even less, is becoming quite the hip thing to do. People have no manners and no shame. Well I have managed to shame a few into shutting up or getting up and leaving the restaurant.
There is a no-drone policy on the island, I am going to talk to the management to extend that to no droning at the table.
Reminds me. When we were in New York State earlier this year, we went to the most expensive, but not necessarily the best, restaurant in town one night. One of the diners took a fairly long video call at the table from her daughter. A little later, another diner was leaving the restaurant and made a point of going over to the offender's table to tell her how much he had enjoyed listening to the conversation whilst he was trying to enjoy his meal. I salute you sir.

I heard all about some old ladies mammogram while I was at the dr’s office yesterday… the podiatrist! Cell phones are a plague (this is me channeling @mclaincausey)

Common decency is an endangered species. It seems like the bulk of humanity has leaned in hard to sociopathic levels of selfishness and self centeredness.
If you need to take a video call, fine. There’s this thing called headphones you can use.
If I ruled the world there would be laws encouraging tasing people who use speakers for extended periods in public. Maybe even a bounty program.
-
@giles, I will admit I think of you whenever I'm eating out and see people doing these loud phone / video conversations. It' annoying.
-
I think the best part,if you feel like getting into it,is that the person on the other end of the video chat can see/hear what’s going on. Happened to me once in my gym locker room. Signs all over the place No Cell Phones. A guy is on a really loud video chat. I tell him to take it out side. It gets really ugly really quick. He eventually plays the I pay to be here card,I play the we all pay to be here card, and I can see the person on the other end,so lean into the argument, with him eventually telling me to shut the fuck up. To which I say…You’re a lot bigger than me so I’ll shut the fuck up. He says that’s right. But the person on the other end has witnessed the entire exchange, and at that point he leaves. Never saw him again.

I’m going to have to show this thread to my wife and say “ look it’s not just me!” She gets annoyed with me that I get so pissed off when these self entitled eejits behave like this in bars/restaurants/trains.

The WAYWT thread diverts a lot of attention to product-specific threads and embedded fit pics. I detest the notion of double- or cross-posting, so it's typically one or the other.
One forum enhancement that could help would be product tags that function similarly to user tags, with auto-completion. These would be searchable so that users could easily see all posts with a given product tag with a simple query.
Imagine being able to tag your WAYWT post with @IHSH-87, etc, and for those tags to either link to the product thread or to a search for all instances of a tag as described above.
Just randomly stumbled across this from a while ago. What a great idea @mclaincausey - I wonder if the infrastructure has developed at all since this post to potentially accommodate this idea….

@long_john86 Cool idea, we've got the new version of NodeBB testing beginning this week so I'll add it to our feature wishlist and see what we can do
