Random Rants

I think if you're actually a father, there's something to be said for appreciating the new My Little Pony. The themes that they present are wonderful for kids, and little parental reinforcement goes a long way. Now, bronies without children may want to re-think their priorities. Although I still like the ideals espoused by the show, I certainly don't have a rainbow dash t-shirt, or anything.

I work with a few Bronies. They're just people :). The Bronies documentary (yes, it's a real thing - http://www.bronydoc.com/) is worth watching.
jdl I think your point was less around Bronies more around APC but in context of Bronies. Or maybe it was being head-to-toe dressed by his girl? And on first read I imagined a real cat dressed in APCs. Took about 3 reads to realise cat = person :).

A buddy of mine has a bronie for a brother in law. He showed me a bunch of pics of the guy and his collection. I mean, I can't say much with my denim addiction but seriously…. a 33 year old man OBSESSED with My Little Pony. That's some wierd stuff.

Exactly Bags… WTF

I watch a lot of kids tv, since I have a 3 year old and a 6 year old. My Little Pony is far from the worst thing out there. It's actually not bad, to be honest. In the context of kids tv, that is.

There's also a lot to be said for a father that is happy to share something with his daughter and doesn't give a shit what strangers think.

I have zero issue with the show or it's message. I wouldn't have my kid exposed to it if I found anything objectionable. What got me was this is a grown ass supposed to be man. I feel a bit immature caught out in some old Batman t-shirt, say nothing about some obscure obsession like his. The fact his girl got him the outfit isn't so bad, it was the pride he took in the whole thing. I'm not big on "branding" myself, or looking like a billboard anyhow. So all of it top to bottom was horrid for me, but what's worse is even fit wise, he looked like he raided her closet…wish I got a pic now.

Let's be clear, I'm not talking about a daughter when I say girl, I am talking about his girlfriend. They have no kids, I asked. Some may remember my pink monkey bandanna, so I am no stranger to that type of sharing with your kids. Honestly if Allie could, I know I would end up with some Rainbow Dash or Applejack socks or something and would rock the hell out of them. This wasn't that, just a dude with a obsession and a really small t-shirt.

Yeah, that does change the equation.
But like Snowy said, whatever makes you happy and doesn't hurt anyone else…
-
I'm not hating on the guy, the look was absurd and he was proud of it, so be it. I just am curious why I can't question what is obviously obsessive behavior? I had a conversation with him to try to understand the why's of it, I wasn't laughing at him.
To better understand the general Bronie mind set, the doco is a good way to go. I don't think anyone was trying to limit your ability to question obsessive behaviour. My initial comments were trying to figure out which bit you were concerned about. /ends direct reply.
"Never judge a person until you've walked a mile in their shoes" seems apt about now.

i'm going to get on my mc ren/ice cube in '86 stuff so if you sensitive avoid this post:
i always find it funny when forum folks are either clearly very into "fashion" or the spending buying habits of someone, or what someone else wears, eats, f^cks, loves, etc.
i mean for the most part this forum is built around a bunch of dudes who generally have one or a few ocd traits. soooo to look at someone else from your little or big glass house is funny as heck. a wiser guy than me clowned how some of us look like the brawny dude all dressed up in our expensive flannels & i found it funny cause it's true. . . but i still love to brawny it up. it's my thing, so i don't talk sh!t about anyone else's thing. i don't care if you do not unbutton your suit when you sit, i don't care if you wear brown shoes with a black belt, i don't care if you like to get pegged, or are a furry . . . . but i do care when folks talk about other people, cause i'm weird & the sh!t makes no sense cause i'm the villain . . . but it's true. . . .i hate when folks about other people behind their back or make sly comments & don't own up to them.
think i enjoy ruffling feathers cause the coolest people are usually the ones that have the ability to not always get the last word in a conversation & hang out with all kinds of different people and respect/like them for their differences & not take themselves so seriously, cause in the end none of this sh!t matters anyway.
okay, feel good, haven't gotten off a proper rant in a minute & now i feel like you do after bad sex or good pizza . . . . . exhausted. . . .on 2nd thought maybe not the best example but i'm gonna ride with it, hahahahahaa
if you notice this post had a clear start, middle is a bit all over the place, & a clear end. it's a rant, no need to reply or even relate to it. if you do cool, if not that's cool too. rant is a stand alone kind of thing, hahahahahahaha
good night fellow Iron Heart junkies & not so junkies
