In general, this is the process with a new product:
I/you/we come up with an idea for a product. I discuss with Haraki, get his agreement. I then fill out a "Sampling Form", which defines exactly what I want the end product to look like, he makes the sample, I/he make tweaks and sample again if necessary. Once sample finalised, I tout the images around my retailers, take orders, fill out a "Production Form" and then I wait….
Specifically with the Big Blue:
I discussed with Haraki 2 weeks ago in New York. I wanted it to be made out of the same twill as the Great White, but Haraki was concerned that the Twill would not take the dye very well. So, when he got back to Japan, he did some experiments with various fabrics, we chose the Oxford as the best host fabric for the dye. So early last week I filled out the "Sampling Form". So, as yet, a whole shirt does not exist, I expect to see one in 2-4 weeks.
I have requested no specific deadline from Haraki as we have the Great White, and the IHSH-41 and 42 coming soon (plus whatever he will hit me with when I see hin in May.............
