@Nocturama watching Clone Wars will allow you to watch everything else. There are tons of characters in all the subsequent shows introduced in CW. The first season was hard for me to get into but after that it was smooth sailing. Rebels was my favorite.

While the first two or three episodes felt like a lot of work, Three Body Problem really paid off. Not consistently excellent. But a lot of originality and enjoyable thinking.

I may have missed any discussion of True Detective: Night Country here. Just made the mistake of looking at the True Detective Reddit thread, and need to know I wasn't the only one who thought it was great. I realise that reddit is full of wannabe sub-sigma, quasi incel chads, but the hate for it was poisonous.

@neph93 I don’t think that there was a whole lot of discussion other than some people saying that they were watching it,which was enough to get me to watch it. Thought Jodi Foster absolutely killed it as did the rest of the cast, but as an actor she starts at “next level “ First one I’ve watched since the first season.

^ exactly this. Regardless of anything else, Jodie Foster was immense. I liked a load of other things about it too. I think a lot of folks younger than you and I got their boxershorts all bunched up because of the focus on the female experience. Men who are insecure in their masculinity are the worst.

I thought Night Country was great. Wasn’t super in love with the finale, but I still enjoyed it. As a series overall, fantastic.
Been meaning to check out Fargo, heard nothing but good things.

My wife and I finished Fargo season 5 last night, absolutely brilliant, so thank you to anyone who recommended it above. Season 2 was my favourite TV for a long time and after a relatively slow season 4 we were a bit reluctant to start season 5 but so glad we did. As has been previously mentioned, Juno Temple and Jon Hamm both fantastic and Jennifer Jason Leigh stealing every scene she’s in, spat my beer out a couple of times at some of her lines highly recommmended.

Paula and I tried and Deadloch, could not get on with it. If you want something pretty gritty, watch Save Me (Sky), my brother-in-law directed it, (well, the first 6 eps were) and I may be biased, but I thought it was amazing. Paula will not watch it after I told her the premise.
@jett , one of my favourite uses of the word fuck was by Phillip my Bahamian bonefishing friend (who sadly died of Covid, stuck on one of the Bahamian out-islands with zero care). He saw an absolute monster of a Bonefish cruise onto the flat we were fishing, and all he could mutter was ,"Fock me to tears, look at the size of dat"
