I go large for most IH shirts and this Medium jacket fits just right–they are sized generously and Id be swimming in a Large. I tend to be between Giles and Sam in sizing. Hope that helps @JDelage

@JDelage I am a XXL in IH shirts and I went for a XXL in this jacket. As I am tall, the XXL gives me the sleeve/body length I need. For me it is definitely not a fitted look but it doesn't look baggy either. I can wear heavy shirts and sweaters under for the winter and still have a good range of motion, which is why I bought this one.

^What Dan said.
I think the rule of thumb is, go for your UHF size if you want to layer, go one down from UHF for a more fitted look over a single shirt/tee etc.
I use mine as my winter coat in northern Norway so wear it over tee+UHF or henley+vest combos'. It's an XL which is also my IH shirt size. It doesn't look baggy, but would do over just a tee.

Here are some photos with me in my Large UHF and my Medium N-1 (5'11" and 165lbs for reference)
And here is a less than flattering shot, showing you the thickness with the UHF
