IH-888S-21 - 21oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - Indigo

I am talking to Tom san about what we can and can't do.
Unfortunately, (or fortunately, whichever way you want to look at it) fabric production and sewing are very inexact sciences, if you expect it to be an exact science, then you will forever be disappointed.
The UHR denim came about because Haraki was trying to develop and new 21oz fabric, it came out NOTHING like he was predicting or expecting, but our little part of the world would be a poorer place, had he not done what he did.
And in the case of the 888, in terms of being exactly what we predicted and aimed for, we failed. But fuck, people seem to love it.
In my case it is quite close to my ideal fit. I imagine when the time comes I'll just ask for the pair with the biggest thigh measurement in stock and it will be fine. I'm looking forward to seeing some fit pics from the 36-38 waisted members.

And Giles said next run or fabric(can't remember) they are going to try and get the thighs a little bigger. So give it some time and see what happens. I think we all have enough jeans to last us years to come….and this is a "problem" that isn't detrimental to us as humans, so here's to looking at the future of the 888 cut.

But fuck, a lot of people seem to love it.
For good reason, it's a brilliant cut, especially for a large percentage of Western physiques.

Interested to see how you get on with them.

Personally I'm happy about the slimmer thigh, but what I want with this cut is for it to be a like a fuller version of the 555 which I love, but is really too slim for me unless I live with a bigger waist. So 13.2" on the W35 should be good. Essentially a slim-ish tapered fit on a chunky body. Anything under 13" is really too tight and over 13.5" and it doesn't suit my frame. Full report tomorrow evening.

First things first, I've missed having 21 oz in rotation. My first two pairs are trashed and fit poorly after weight loss, and although it's IH "standard" denim, it's still some of the best denim around imho so I'm chuffed to have some again.
As for the fit… well I could probably have gone a size down. The waist fits perfectly now, but how much it'll stretch remains to be seen. I sized the waist in the same way as I'd size 634's or 666's and at least on me, the higher rise means the waist sits at a slimmer part of my torso than with those two other cuts. That doesn't mean it'll work like that for everyone though. Of course, I think a size smaller and the thigh would be pushing things into snug territory, and that isn't what these jeans are about.
What these jeans are about is the comfort of the 634, combined with the class and style of the 555. The high rise is basically cool af. I love it. The top block is a little more relaxed than I thought it would be but still fits tidily. The star of the show though is the taper. It does an amazing job. I'm 6' but have a 31" inseam and these make my legs look long. The hem opening is perfect for wearing with engineers, (and probably good with work boots too, I just haven't gotten that far yet) and this all adds up to a very stylish silhouette.
I have two pairs of BB's and I liked that cut but the 888 knocks it on it's arse. A true regular tapered fit, sharp but comfortable. I look forward to other iterations.
Shouldn't really add a pic as I only have a shit lighting, mirror selfie but you get the idea:

I'm not a denim pants dude, but these are really calling me… Almost all of my jeans are either medium rise and loose through the leg, or low rise and bordermy too tight through the leg.
Resisting is difficult, but I'm still holding fairly strong on a 2017 clothes spending freeze. Almost September, and I've only spent $300 thus far.
I'm going to have to choose, either these, or the Duck CPO... I hope I don't give in to both (Might happen)
