Also its dark outside, 10 degrees F, feels like -4F with 15 MPH winds… I am warm enough with a UHF underneath this jacket and the hood on! Nice Parka... I would definitely take this snowboarding as well.

Tested it out in -16 Celsius today with waffle and a loopwheel and it did fine - albeit wasn’t standing around!

@constant:
I also picked this up from iron shop provisions, the zipper on mine is a little stubborn at the bottom - cannot easily zip and unzip… any thoughts on how to improve this?
Like the quilted riders jacket I think there is a trick. Connect the zip grab the toggle on the end pull down away and out without detaching the zip and then up - works every time

Get better at doing it…....I had to.....
The more I wear it the more I agree with @Giles on this. There is this piece of fabric that always gets in the way when you start to zip. But if you are aware of that, one finger move can put that fabric in the right spot, under the zipper. From there it all goes smoothly.

Such a great jacket. Exactly what I was looking for. Only upside to getting snow today (in March ) was the opportunity to wear this beast.

So I managed to pick-up an XL from a forum member. I’m so used to buying winter coats for work and they are either too big or too small. So I’m probably questioning sizing because the jacket fits properly. I’m 6’1 and about 220. I’ve just had a chicken sandwich too. Here is a fit pic… just a t-shirt underneath. I tried with a 9oz flannel underneath and it was a bit more snug but by no means tight. Just want to see what people think. I think an XXL might be too big.

@joephoto it looks like it looks like it fits you well.
I’m always a bit confounded by sizing relative to what other people wear. The IH staff vitals are helpful, but to me, most of it comes down to “feel” and how you like to wear your clothing.
I’ve had to go through a bit of trial and error to figure out my IH size, but I think have it now. I still make a few mistakes (as the IH crew can attest to lol).
I’m 6’2” 180 lbs and I wear an XL in this jacket.

Thanks. That tells me I’m probably at the top end of a good fit for this jacket. I’ve lost loads of weight in the last year and still going. So I know an XXL might be roomier now, but in a months time could be swimming on me. As it’s not a working jacket for me, I’m trying to view the fit as more style than what I’d normally need for work. Thanks for the feedback.

just took delivery of this winter jacket what a great jacket super compfy, expensive but in my opinion well worth the money.

@joephoto looks good to me. I'm 6'1" 195 lbs and in XL. I think you could be borderline XL/XXL probably? Make sure the chest doesn't feel too tight when moving your arms around or it is probably too small. I tried L in this and it was passable but I knew it would be uncomfortable over time so sized up.
-
@svenz that is exactly what I thought. I’m borderline on the XL/XXL front. But as I’m still losing weight I’d rather be borderline than order an XXL and in two months have a jacket I’m swimming in. The arms feel fine. I just can’t wear anything too bulky underneath.

How does this jacket compare to a (type B3) shearling jacket in terms of warmth? Would love to hear the thoughts of someone who owned both jackets. I'm looking for a jacket that is lighter than my B3 and warmer. Basically, I'm looking for something that would keep me toasty below 0°C with a Thermal over a T-Shirt or even only a T-Shirt.

I don’t own both, but I can attest to just how crazy comfortable and WARM the MTN Parka is.
I’ve been wearing it here in Canada a lot lately. We had a little cold snap (-8 C which is nothing really lol) and all I wore under it was a tee shirt. I took the pup for an about a 10 km walk and I was so toasty I actually had to undo the top button and zip because I was heating up.
The rest of the week we’ve seen a miserable rain, snow extremely damp sort of conditions. Hovering right around the freezing mark, and I wear the jacket the same with just a tee. It’s WATER PROOF folks!
For the first time in a long time, I’m looking forward to minus 25c just to see what this thing is like with a UHF or sweater underneath lol.
