IH-555-XHSib - 25oz Selvedge Denim Super Slim Jeans - Indigo/Black
-
Hi Everyone
I just bought it a new 555-XHSib
Here my experience:
One year ago or so I bought it same model in size 34, painful break in but very confortable, to my taste I prefer roomy jeans, I must reckon that this cut is beautiful also 777-XHS is fabulous too (in this case after wash one time cold water, special detergent no spin. Shrunk and the waist back to previous size but the rest no much.)This are the pics of the 555 size 34 unwashed and unsoaked
and the new one size 36 (yep 2 size up but are different batches and different sizing) unwashed and unsoked
very confy by the way my only problem with the size 34 is when I´m sit dow is really tight in the crotch and the tights, the knees are no problem at all.
Sorry the mess surrounding but it´s where I work

Some vertical fading starting to show…

Yes! I try to explain this to my wife, but so far she shows little appreciation for the subtleties of faded denim… I'm glad I can usually rely on you to make up for this @neph93 [emoji6]

[emoji3516] Wow those look incredible, both fit and fades. I'm starting to become convinced that I need a pair in this XHSib denim. Pics like this are great sales material for IH!
Problem is I've only had my first pair of IH for about 3 months, and I've already decided I need a regular XHS pair, a SBG pair and a 21oz OD pair as well. Given I usually wear jeans for at least a year or two before getting a new pair, some real patience is going to be required.

It is a bit of a tricky problem. On the one hand fades like @Lowlander gets will only be achieved by wear, so that happens quicker when you only have one pair. On the other hand there is a lot of nice denim out there.
@vaquero357 discussed his roatation on an XHS thread recently which I liked. Basically a weekly rotation of his differring pairs.
For my part I enjoy mixing up cuts, so always have a slimmer pair and more relaxed pair in rotation. I also like wearing my older worn in pairs. The result is it takes me longer to get good evo than it used to. However I also always have a pair that I use for construction, DIY, dirty work. I choose those to accelerate wear on a specific pair.
@Giles has recently detailed his habits. He wears a new pair almost exclusively for about a year. It works very well for him.
There are lots of ways to do it, just decide what will give you the most enjoyment.

I recognize your problem @jayaytee!
And Neph is right–there are lots of ways to go about it.
I ended up buying lots of different jeans after discovering Iron Heart a few years ago. Here is my routine to wear all of them AND achieve fades: depending on the season, I pick one favorite pair which I'll wear for two weeks, then alternate with 2 other pairs for a week or 10 days, and then back to my favorite pair. This way, my XHSib get quite a lot of wear during winter, while a lighter weight pair gets more wear during summer. And in the meantime, other pairs get some love as well!

Guess I've been pretty much following the Giles model for most of the last ~10 years: buy a pair and wear them almost exclusively for 6 - 24 months, then buy another pair. Not that I'm totally rigid about it though, I'll throw in a black pair or an old worn in pair a day or two every couple of weeks just for variety, and in a (probably futile) attempt to convince normal people that I'm not some weird jeans obsessive. But yeah all this tempting denim is putting that approach under serious strain…

Just got my second pair of xhsib. Bought them off of pjjames. Cannot express my gratitude enough. These pants fit me leagues better than the 777. They are a 32 waist as was my 777 XHSib. (Side note: probably should have sized up to a 33 in the 777) These 555 actually fit better than my 555!xhs indigo which are a size 33 and just a tad loose in the waist; still love them though. All of my other denim are tapered cuts and I actually think the 555 suits me better.
Now my only dilemma is where I want my cuffs to hit because these are unhemmed and I don't want to send them away to get a closer to proper inseam. I think my RGT and PBJs are taking a backseat to my two pairs of 555 xhs.
-
Congratulations @GardenState. Depending on your footwear of choice, the Tokyo cuff is always a winner on narrow gems, and is the best cuff to eat up inseam as well.

555’s you get away true to size, but 777’s I have size up…
@GardenState I had that problem in the past. Now have three pairs of 777’s 25oz size up

@Kasi ive seen some ofnyour collection you have many more pants than I do. I have six pairs of denim total and feel it's a lot. I want those NO LOT pants but can't fathom having more than six pairs.
