@Oaktavia looking great dude, those electric blues are peeking through quite nicely.

Right back atcha!

The thigh measurements came out bigger,on these, than other iterations of the 555 cut. These clock in at 12.9 for a Tag 34.
Cheers. Sounds like a 33 or possibly even a 32 might be my best bet. Probably best to lean towards a 33.

OK this denim is THE most insane stuff Ive ever seen in my life… my first impression of the XHSib is gonna leave a permanent scar on my brain (and knees & thumbs). thankful this latest run has a wider thigh. just enough room to squeeze into these brute's. sure hope this denim softens up & loosens in the tight spots just a bit.
ill try & get a better pic this weekend. y'all are very good at helping out with fit advice and i look forward to getting a bit of feedback. so far one of the best pieces of advice I've read here is that waist should be snug at first for IH jeans & perhaps other "stress" points so that the jeans break in to fit your body better down the road.
for a data point, here is how I measured the tag 34 jeans:
W: 35.1” (precisely as requested)
FR: 11.4”
BR: 16.25”
Thigh: 12.9”
Knee: 8.4" @ IH's guided 13" down & 8.3” at 14"
Hem: 8”
Inseam: 36.65”IH posted measurements:
W: 35.7
FR: 11.5
BR: 16.4
Thigh: 12.9
Knee: 8.4
Hem: 7.9
Inseam: 37.3 -
Congrats! You’re in for a bit of discomfort in the short term, but it will pay off massively.
-
@hoppy_IPA it is pretty crazy stuff. The XHS is brutal for a while but softens nicely with effort.
A snug fit is good, but from experience the XHS often feels snugger than it is because the denim is so unforgiving at first.
Fit looks good from a distance. I’m interested in hearing how you’re getting on?
Are you considering a soak? These will shrink a little.
-
@hoppy_IPA my pair were quite stiff and unforgiving for longer than I expected. I'm clocking in around 100 wears and now they are much easier. I remember having a hard time even crossing my legs and worried they were too snug in the thighs for a while. Now they are very nice. Just need to put in work, wear them every day if you can.

Fuuuuck bro, looking awesome. Do you know how many wears your pair has? Looking further along than mine. These are going to look so sick by next Halloween.

I finally treated myself to this wonderful 25 oz denim! I gave it a scalding hot soak before wearing to get rid of the shrinkage, which ultimately turned out much less than I expected: I lost about half an inch in the waist and no noticeable shrinkage in the inseam. Admittedly, the soak was pretty brief–about 50 minutes. Maybe I should have left it longer.
I'm relatively happy with the fit, although I seem to have some space left in the top block that I could have done without. (Makes me wonder if I could have squeeuzed into a tag 28)
I'll add some fit pics. I wonder what you think!
-
That’s a killer fit, congrats! A soak alone won’t do much, you also need some agitation. You’ll probably get a bit more shrink the first time you wash them.
-
Jacket looks great too.
-
@Lowlander it's a good fit. Wear them a lot.

Thanks for the responses, guys! This puts my mind to rest a bit.
Great looking jeans, @Twin! Something for me to aspire to in the coming months. I especially love how your honeycombs are coming through (more so in the right leg than the left? Weird). Nicely worn in jacket too, btw!

Just to echo what has been said, your fit looks very good to me. The XHS is tricky at the start as the nature of the fabric can cause the wearer to doubt the fit. As it starts to relax and drape that changes.
I also agree that a medium warm 50min soak probably won’t have removed all the shrinkage. That being said, half an inch on XHS isn’t unusual, especially in the smaller sizes.
As for asymmetrical honeycombs, that is pretty normal, I think. Most people favour one leg more than the other, QED one knee bends more, moves more wears more. Mine are super asymmetrical but that has increased the last three years after I busted my left knee [emoji1]

Neph & Oak - you we’re correct about this stuff slowly softening up. It really is a tricky denim to understand w/o putting some work in to see where it goes. I’m happy with this fit & think it will even get better as the denim continues to soften up.
I’m nervous about washing them though. They’re quite snug as is & if they shrink I could be in trouble. Cross that bridge when I get there… keeping them dry until the wife says otherwiseThis denim stacks like no other. It’s so rigid that it started locking into place immediately. I was hoping to cuff them bc of the black weft & contrasting red selvedge. The epics stacks these could make are quite tempting
What ya think?
