Mine too. Getting pretty excited…
I loooove the taper on these. It feels slimmer than the 21oz 888, OD or standard. I learned this morning that if I plan on wearing socks that go up to my calves, I have to put the socks on before I put on these jeans, because I literally can't raise the pant legs up past my mid-calf.
they came up very nice indeed. Love thw stacks. The too block looks quite fitted too. Is it that way on your other 888’s?
Btw, I think tje weight and stiffness of the denim helps increase the impression of tightness with all 25oz iterations.
-
Yeah, I'm really glad that I went with a slightly longer inseam. I was afraid that the stacks would ruin the silhouette, like we've talked about, but because the taper is so tight, the stacks look good, at least for now! Maybe once the denim loosens up, I'll want to get them hemmed some more.
The top block is – fitted. It's not loose but also not too tight. This will be my first full day wearing them so I'm sure it'll loosen up. Let's just say that it's a little tough to cross my leg in order to tie my shoe, but sitting and squatting feels fine. I don't think that it looks too tight. Let me ask some of my office mates how my butt looks in these jeans
I'm excited for you to get yours, @neph93 !
-
The XHS lends itself to stacking better than the 21oz because of its thickness I think. The fit looks great, not too tight at all. Don't expect them to loosen up a whole bunch for while. That takes time with the 25oz….I really like how iterations of the same cut work differently because of the denim.
I'm excited about mine but nervous too. I sized down and the waist is going to be restrictive for a few weeks. That I can do, but the thigh shrinkage people have gotten has me a little concerned
-
They look perfect on you Paul. It's good you sized down. A size up would have been too big. They will give a good bit and mold to your body. My advice is to get drunk and go to sleep in them (unless you are prone to peeing your pants while you are drunk).
I have been really sick and slept from 4 PM yesterday until about 7 AM this morning in mine. It helps break them in faster.

Thanks, man, I'm glad I listened to you and sized down
I wouldn't say I'm prone to piss myself while drunk, but considering how hard it is to unbutton these, it might just happen
Feel better, Filthy! You got a bit of the flu that's going around? I'm all about breaking in gear but wearing these while sick is a whole different level of dedication. I salute you!
-
tell me about it! LMAO I can't unbutton these without undoing my belt and working down. I have almost pissed myself several times.

Between this iteration and the UHR one, if you could have only one or the other, which one would it be? I love reading @Filthy 's detailed musings on the qualities of different denims so I trust you have a say on this.
The UHR is almost gone and this one is endangered too, pressing the issue. I do prefer raw over sanforized; however I do also think that the heavier the better.
I can't get both as I just got the 555-03 and I'm a student with zero income.

Definitely feels slimmer than the 888-UHR to me, and actually to me it feels more relaxed after only 3 wears than that HELLACIOUS uhr denim, lol

@Crit_Obs 1000 % these. Especially if you like HEAVY. Don't get me wrong, the UHR is pretty great. But these are really on a whole other level of awesome. This denim has the same smooth/soft hand that the UHR has. But they feel substantially more heavy. By the numbers these are only supposed to be 2 oz heavier per yard. But they feel magnitudes heavier. Also the indigo is the deepest, darkest indigo I have never seen with an exponential potential for fading. These are going to have some incredible tate ochi and incredible electric blues. 1000% these.
But I think if you use PayPal you can get a free return. So why not buy both pairs and return whichever you don't like? I'd email them and make sure this is true for certain.
-
@Crit_Obs I wanted to try and show you the difference in the weight and color.
You can see it in the difference in thickness of the hems. It is quite significant!
The XHS looks black but it is actually blue! These have the deepest indigo color of any jean I have ever seen.
-
They haven't faded much yet except for the crotch. But you can see the amazeballs electric blue.

I’d be very surprised if the 888 doesn’t show up in the regular XHS down the road. It is a perfect cut for heavy denim. So unless the black dye is the dealmaker, you’ll see XHS in other cuts and I suspect the 888 too at some point. The UHR is pretty much done. All that was left of that denim has been made into jeans. So that tips the scales perhaps?
These are my two favourite IH denims. If i had to live without one I’d be hard pressed to choose. The XHS has an amazing weight and heft to it. The weave is thick and coarse and the fading is high contrast, and vertical. It’s a slow development but gives a dramatic result.
The UHR a very different beast from the XHS despite comparable weights. It is quite a light indigo to start of with, it is woven much more densely and has an even, almost silky hand. Hairy too. It fades quickly, quicker than any other IH denim. They are less contrasting than XHS but still quite dramatic. The UHR also loves water. The denim gets better and better with washing.
Hopefully that little run down gives you a better idea of the differing qualities of the receptive denims. With a sword over my head I’d probably be forced to choose the XHS but it really would be a close run thing.

Neph is 100 percent right and put it way more eloquently than I could have articulated.
But, 3 facts remain:
-these will likely have a higher contrast fade than anything we've ever seen before from IH.
-these are heavier than the 21/23 oz UHR
-these will likely get that same silky hand that the UHR has and will probably fade just as fast. They feel like the exact same cotton yarns to me just heavier.Having worn only indigo jeans for the past 5 years, the indigo and black is a nice change if pace for me. I wouldn't let these slip away.
-
The electric blue is amazing on these. Today they seem to really become more relaxed for me. I won't be wearing any other denim till it gets too hot for these. So a solid 3 months probably.
Once I can get in and out of all the pockets without thought, then they are broken in for me….ha.
-
Ha yea, plunging my hand into the pocket feels like a steel cable scraping against the back of it.
-
This hotel has a big mirror. So I took some pictures. They suck. But you can get an idea of the fit.

You're gonna get some great honeycombs, man!
I've been curious to ask, since you travel a lot, what is it that you do, if you don't mind me asking.
These are the most epic honeycombs i've had on a pair of jeans ever. The knees are tight as fuck on this pair. If I was to have sized down I probably wouldn't have been able to put them all the way on or get them off once I did. Thanks.
I work in power plants and refineries. If you go a page or 2 back in the Random Announcements thread I gave a brief explanation of what I do.
