IHM-30-IND - Whipcord N1 Jacket - Indigo
-
Man @ARNC , salt on the wound
I got the olive one this year, and while it's obviously not indigo, I've been more than impressed with it's quality and color. Color.aside, can't go wrong with any of the N1's -
@Joberwocky I didn’t mean it that way. I just love mine too much :).

Doesn't seem like it's much of an option either way, they're all sold out everywhere at this point.

@Nik Any tips or tricks on washing your jacket? Mine is due for one and I was just contemplating taking it for dry-cleaning.
Normal washing machine, cold, no spin…? Seriously torn and would appreciate your insight as well as anyone else who has cleaned theirs.
...and your jacket looks awesome!!

Hey @goosehd I actually read through posts across the forum and heeded @Giles advice to not worry about washing too much so just put it in on a 'shirt' cycle, which is 30 or maybe even 40 degrees and low spin, because when I've washed dirty pieces on wool/delicate cycles they didn't get clean. My N1 had quite a few spots/stains from wearing for three years without washing so did need to be cleaned. It did shrink a bit and got a little marbled so might be worth a more delicate wash if yours can take it and you don't want that. But I'm kind of into the way this looks now. And now that it has been through that wash it doesn't need to be babied, and can be washed whenever. I'm tempted to see if I can find a way to lighten it even more actually…

Thanks for posting your experiences with washing this jacket @Nik! I had also been wondering how to go about this. It's very useful knowing the jacket will shrink. Now I know I should probably not wash mine. Yours looks great though!

It looks like this is another thread that hasn't migrated to the new forum completely: all posts from November 2019 to December 2020 are gone.
Specifically, I'm missing the sizing charts. Is there any chance at least they can be retrieved again? @AdamJ

@Lowlander thanks for reporting it, we're working on a fix at the moment. I'll repost the sizing chart here in the meantime
Edit: they're now in the top post -
Thanks so much @AdamJ!

Went through two small tins. Tried with gloves but couldn’t get it worked in so just used hands because the heat helped with penetration. The heat gun works almost immediately and I can see the wax look wet as it melts. Kind of tricky to get it to sink in evenly but also avoid overheating. I think I saw some smoke at some point around the pocket so backed off because I didn’t want to burn the cotton or melt the polycotton stitching. Now that it has cooled down to room temperature the wax is visibly patchy but looks worse in pictures than to the eye. Since there was already marbling from machine washing the jacket now has a a lot going on in terms of variation to the fabric. The whipcord feels crispy. I’m looking forward to wearing it and seeing how resistant to water and wind it is now. Hopefully regular abrasion and warmth through wear will also even out the wax.
