IHSH-246-NIN - 12oz Selvedge Denim Western Shirt – Natural Indigo - The Hurt Shirt
Our classic western shirt made from one-washed 12oz natural indigo Japanese selvedge denim, with black Iron Heart Permex snaps. A staple shirt that will age beautifully over time.
Johnny Cash covering Hurt by Nine Inch Nails was paramount to the revival of Johnny Cash's career in the noughties when he teamed up with Rick Rubin to do the 'American Recording Sessions' So much so that it is a common misconception that people think JC wrote Hurt. Hurt is a NIN song through and through with a nod to Cash and the IHSH-218 at the same time.

How does this differ from the 33-ind? I guess something to do with fading properties…
-
Thanks. It'd be interesting to see side-by-side comparisons, but I guess I can look at the Type 3s for an idea.
As the 33-ind is one of my absolute faves, I'm trying to justify maybe getting this one.

We do not have the 246 here, so we won't be able to take comparison shots until the production run gets here. It is a lighter hue of indigo and is very definitely natural indigo, those who know, knew that it was before we told them…

Beautiful!

This I like quite a bit. I’ve mentioned it before but it’s almost as light as a TW denim shirt that I bought off of @Seul 7 years ago. That shirt is BEAUTIFUL!

Since this is the NIN shouldn't get like an additional name? The Pretty Hate Machine? The Mr. Self Destruct?
-
Gotta admit, I like "The Pretty Hate Machine".
-
@setandsetting I love it. And given the NIN link with JC, and the IH link with JC, we could always call it The Hurt Shirt.
-
Hurt Shirt…. Yes
-
After lengthy discussions here, we have decided on "The Hurt Shirt"….
Words by @Graham and thanks to @setandsetting and @neph93 for getting us here:

The mention of "The Hurt Shirt"' on the forum I quite like, it is a NIN song through and through with a nod to Cash and the IHSH-218 at the same time.

Yeah, that'll work.
I absolutely love Cash's version, though it's so bleak it impairs my mental health to listen to it too frequently.

Never underestimate the power of a sad song (or a good shirt) to uplift your spirits.
