IH-888S-SBG - 21oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise SBG

I think what I love so much about the 21oz denims in general is the wear to wear difference, literally day to day. I’ve worn these maybe 5 times. And I’m getting the same softening, molding to body without sagging that I got with the flagship 21 and the ib. I think the 25oz is just too rich for my blood. I appreciate the best in class fades over time, but my experience with the 25 has been more of a test of will than anything else. Not my thing.
But the 21 oz, across the board? Pure grass fed butter. So good.

@drewfonse Agreed!

@cityofdelusion Update: 16 days of wear later and after I wrote this message, the waist now measures exactly 80cm / 31.5". Compared to the original state and waist measurement (76cm / 30", 21 days ago), the waist has now stretched 1.5".
So, for those that were wondering earlier in this thread or anyone who'll want to know in the future: The waist can definitely stretch 1.5". Also, the denim gradually gets softer which is very nice.

Question for the big thigh folks here. Any issue with these versus other pairs of 888s you own? I wear a size 33 in all three of my 888 cuts. The SBGs are running narrow with the waist is ~.5 inches smaller and thighs ~ .3 inches smaller than my other pairs of 888s in size 33 so I’m between sizes. I think I can stretch out the waist but worried about the thighs with this batch.
-
@Nashville60 i wouldn't say i have huge thighs, but my SBG's are slightly looser than my 21ib. that being said they're different sizes and it all comes down to measurements. Measurements can vary from pair to pair, but I got a pair very similar to the other 888 i already had. having said that - i would say these SBG had a hint more give than my 21ib. they're super soft and seem to have stretched quite a bit where i needed them too. They seem to hold creases slightly less as well so far. Funnily though, for the 'big thigh' cut, the slimmest area of this cut on me IS the thigh. But, it is perfect for me. best cut ever.
Also: on mine, the waist stretched more than 1.5" and the thighs gave a bit too.

Update after 35 days of wear
- softness level: pyjama (self explaning)
- fade speed level: turtle (slow, but surprisingly quick in some spots)
- stretch factor: as expected (waist quickly stretched 1“ to desired state, thigh got noticeably loser too because under pressure)
- versatility: great but wearing black bottoms every day takes a bit getting used to, I find it difficult to wear non black dark tops with it. Black tops or light tops work great imho

@weftyarn this is about where I am on these. I love the sbg with anything and everything!

Dude so nice looking. And just a comfy ass pair of jeans. So good.
-
@drewfonse hell yeah ! These are on 5-6 days per week, and being just a tad looser than my 21ib, they are very comfortable. Wear count is catching up too, 41 on these to 83 on 21ib
-
Yup, even with fewer wears than you on both, I agree that the ib is just a little bit snugger on me too. Both are amazing.
Can also confirm that the SBG is the perfect choice to display every last damn animal hair in your house on. Good lord, you would think my cats we be completely bald at this point haha

@drewfonse hahaha this is true. My cleaning habits for the clothes I barely wash consists of using a horsehair beard brush as a lint roller. I never use them for my beard, but people keep buying them for me as gifts, so I found a use. Also reduces waste compared to a sticky roller and doesn’t require refills. Gets dirt off well too if you let it dry up.

Noted! Good idea

@drewfonse I have an English Mastiff. The battle between dog hair and black denim is never ending. Like @WhiskeySandwich a lint roller is my best friend.
