As an American I had no clue about any of this…couldn't even name whoever is getting married and don't care who they are.
I’m skeptical of this. Unless of course you don’t watch any need at all. In that case I get it. Or stand in line at a checkout counter that has magazines. But you do live in Arizona and claim to never be outside… i guess I believe you

You're skeptical of this yet you just asked who the Windsor's are
I'm dead serious. I never watch TV unless it's sports….only reason I have cable at all is to watch my soccer games. I don't read the magazines in line at the grocery store either. I ignore the media as much as possible.
You've got it a bit twisted...I work outside so I'm outside M-F most of the working hours. In reference to the shorts discussion I was just saying that during the summer in AZ, on my days off, if I'm hanging out outside it's generally around a body of water and/or a grill which means I would obviously have some board shorts/trunks on. Other than that I'm not hanging out outdoors. It goes without saying that it's hot AF here in the summer.

Read that out loud to the @Madame Buttonfly
Please tell her I’m very much looking forward to seeing her in July.

The Windsor question was tongue in cheek. I didn’t know there last name…
Yeah I hear ya. I didn’t watch the news until my wife, she was my GF at the time moved in years back. Now I am Fully aware of what’s going on in the world.
Working outside in the summer must be a beast in AZ I’ve played baseball there in September and October to I was Insane. Dirt was so dry and hard that when you slid it nearly ripped your damned pants off!

Who are the Windsor's?
Think of all the IH gear you can buy with “Duke” money.
The House of Windsor is the royal house of the UK. They used to be called The House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha but had to change it because it was too German. Which tells you about all you need to know in my opinion.
I’m doing ok with teacher money and a lot of overtime. Me and Elon [emoji1]

yep! We have whats called caliche out here which basically soil that's damn near as hard as concrete. My back yard was full of it and I dug my own sprinkler system which was overambitious and a bit dumb among other other things….and the ground was almost impossible to dig through in certain points. Damn that was a tough job
-
I remember literally making sparks sometimes in the ground when my shovel would hit the soil…not kidding....matty you just brought back painful memories

Yeah man, I hear that. I’ve dug tens of thousand if holes in my days. Don’t think I’ve had anything as hard as that Arizona baseball field.. digging irrigation in that by hand?! Damn son. Should have rented a ditch witch trenching machine. Next time right?! Around here the only thing that comes close to the clay out there is virgin, undisturbed soil. And there ain’t much of that here. Came across it one time in the crawl space of a 200 year old house. Had to use a chipping hammer drill to break it up. Anyways stay cool bro!

I was younger and dumber lol. I didn't do it all by hand….got about 40% done and I had enough...said fuck this and went and rented a ditch witch. Hell next time I'm just hiring someone else

That experience should have just convinced that a desert should not have sprinkler systems.
-
You're right, that's exactly what it did. There will be no next time. No more grass yards for me.

Does it make me really old to hope that the concert I'm going to tonight will start (and end) early, since I have to get up at the crack of dawn tomorrow?
-
True. Of course, in the old days I wouldn't have paid good money to run nine miles on a Saturday morning…

Revisiting the royals thing, Americans have always been obsessed with the royal family as a general rule. I never understood it, or for that matter why such an obsolete institution remains in the first place, even in a ceremonial capacity.
We wanted the Kennedys and then the Bushs to be royal families. We talk about freedom and democracy, but in the end we want to be ruled and don't really understand democratic principles. We don't even vote. Being rulers of our own destinies just sounds like too much work. So much easier if someone just tells us what to do.
You folks had the wherewithal to impose the Magna Carta on royals, but centuries since just can't quite finish tearing that band aid off, eh? "Good for tourism," right?
And no, Chris, that doesn't make you old. Your age does

The reaction to the Royal Wedding in our house is varied.
Wife - Up at 7, cleans the entire house, perched in front of the TV from 9 to watch the full days coverage.
Me - When will this be over so I can watch the FA Cup final
Tom - What wedding? What’s for breakfast? Can I have £20 to spend on Fortnight? What’s for lunch? Where’s my phone?
Dog - Woof (sniffs his own genitals)

All I know is Megan's getting married to 1 of them. Wouldn't have a freaking clue which one. No TV, No radio, no newspapers. It happens
