I don't know if there is a "proper" hem length for jeans. Really just depends on how you want them to look, no break, mild break, tons of stacks. I would experiment by cuffing the jean to the desired length you would like after the hem and make note of where the fold in the cuff is (taking into account the finished hem will probably shorten your inseam by 1/2-3/4" give or take). from there just give the inseam a measure to the bottom of the now cuffed jean and you should have your desired hem length.

@Giles has always been good about getting me to the right hem length. I am a 30" inseam for me, and generally with denim we have done I think 31.5" in order to account for the shrinkage (usually around 1") and allow for stacking and combs (the extra 0.5"). The wise approach is to err on the side of too long, since you can always re-hem.
Also, this is not a dumb question @Palmer
cheers

@BloodnThunder @mclaincausey Thanks. I measured some others and a good inseam length cuffed for me is 33.5. I’m gonna start with the 18oz vintage 666. The site says it’s one washed and no shrinkage to be expected so I’m thinking I’ll start at 34 to account for stacking and combs.

No problem. I have those very jeans and 31.5" hem from the IHUK crew was perfect for my 30" inseam, if that helps.

I got my pair of 888S-OD tapered and hemmed so as a result the new thread obviously doesn't have the dye in it. Has anyone done a DIY overdye of thread to attempt to match it up with the original thread? I'm not a fan of the look of the new contrasting thread that doesn't have any black dye in it.

Take a black sharpie to it carefully?

+1 with a sharpie. Done it on my own od’s..

@Giles I just got an email about Sonder Supplies, is this operated by you guys as well? I didn’t see anything about it here so just interested to know. For the record I don’t mind getting the alert email either way and will stay subscribed to see where it goes.

Thanks. Interested to see what comes out of it. I was just wondering because Monme was a thing and then it wasn’t, but that was announced here first.

Tell us more, the shirt looks nice though…

What we do on this forum with regards to Sonder Supplies is still something that P, A and I are still undecided about. In the short term following

@Kacakembun I tried on one of the Railcar chore coats last weekend in Los Angeles. I would describe the sizing as American true to size. For reference I wear a 3XL in Iron Heart shirts and jackets and the Railcar XL fit me well. Hope this helps.

@Palmer i’m stuck between Medium or Large size on chore coat..should i keep Medium or go for one size bigger?
