IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
-
Evening All, I know that others have had the same issue I have with regards to button holes coming loose and wondered what they had done to fix it. I intend to resew the edges myself and perhaps add an extra layer of material on the inside to reinforce when I hem the bottoms which should do the job but wondered what else had been done. I know in the past the jeans of been, very kindly, either replaced or repaired by IH but I bought these 2nd hand and am willing to effect the repairs myself. Cheers all

I’ve had this happen to buttonholes on some of my old jeans, and sort of fixed the problem just by free-sewing (and sewing, and sewing) all around the edge of the buttonhole. You just have to make sure the hole is still big enough for the button to fit through, but small enough to hold it in place. If there’s been enough loss of denim around the hole, I imagine you’d have to add a patch to bridge the gap.

If you can’t figure it out and there’s no one near your that can, Rain at Indigo Proof can fix anything Denim. She’s located in Portland, Oregon

Only problem with Indigo Proof is that she's not taking any mail order repairs until 2018.
For something like that, I'd just search online for how to repair button holes, or how to hand stitch a button hole, and just do it myself.

Nice!!!

Those are nice…..I would like to garment dye my used up pair and start over.

Dear experienced folks, does this stretch at least a few mm at thighs with wear up from the new measurements ? or does it actually shrink in with washes ?

It stretches like any other denim although it takes a while compared to 21oz which stretches if you look at it too hard. It shrinks only a little, so you will end up with jeans that exceed their original measurements.
If you're concerned I'd recommend not soaking and wearing hard for a few weeks and then wash/soak after some stretch has occurred.

I'm considering a pair of these but in the low 34" range, like 34.4" which would work best for me.

Unlike this pair

Hasn’t seen water…. yet

Nice honeycombs emerging on my 2014 666 XHS after about 9 months wear to work (office) in the past 18 months. No soaks or washes yet. My next project was to be a pair of my 2014 634 UHRs but I've got some raw 42 year old deadstock 32 x 36 501s arriving shortly which I'm unlikely to be able to resist breaking in, if I can bring myself to unstaple the tags and wear them.
