IH-666-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo

I have a question regarding the fade that is happening around the knee. Here is a picture of where it stands:
As it can be seen that my knee is actually where my finger points to, but the fades happen well below my knee and I don't understand if there is a relationship between inseam and the tension areas around the knee when I'm on my knees to do some work. Yesterday, I had to mount some furniture for which I had to be on my knees for quite some time and you can see that when bending, the pants gets pulled in and ends up touching the ground well below the knee area. Any ideas if there is any inseam factor in this?

I have seen something similar on some pairs of my pre-IH jeans. I think part of what's going on is the legs getting pulled up a up bit when you're kneeling (as you mentioned). Another thing is that when you kneel, you probably don't kneel on the front part of your knee (the most prominent part when you're standing) but a bit lower down. I guess this depends on the shape of your legs, but try putting your hand where you're pointing and kneel down without moving your hand. I expect your hand will only just touch the ground - it won't be between your knee and the floor. The combination means there the fades are below the knee when you stand.
Sorry if that's a bit long. Maybe others will have more insight of the specific effect of the inseam. Maybe more dependent on the general fit above the knee than the inseam?

Lipstick! That made me lol irl.
Just gave my 666s their first wash (previously they'd just seen a hot soak when I bought em). No real exciting fades happening yet, but I do have some really great creasing, stoked to see how these continue to develop.
The big thing though is holy shit that wash has already softened these up a lot! I gave em a tub wash in cold water and hung em up in the sun to dry — I put em on when they were still a tiny bit damp just to stretch the waist back out and re-set the creases. They were tight as hell when I first wore them, but today I've noticed that they've quickly gotten very comfy, more so than before the wash.
So anyway, that's good news for me. I'd previously thought the top block on these might be a little too restrictive, but it feels like a little forgiveness is en route.

Man I love this cut and jeans but these thighs…if they would only have similar measurements as the 14oz 666.
Did you notice any shrinkage on the thighs after a wash? Would you mind posting some measurements before and after in case you should have them?
I'm on 5+ months with my pair and haven't shown them water so far. The fit is immaculate, though not sure what to expect after a wash.

I was wondering what Quantum Field Theory had to do with anything

On the 14oz? Minimal shrinkage but only for a couple of days after wash, then back to normal.

@Dmart so what are the issues you have when you consider some others with bigger thighs like the 634 or the 888? Just curious — for me, the 888 has the ideal top block but I wish it didn't taper. I don't hate em as is, but I just like a wider hem, especially for ease fitting over engineers.
My next pair of IH will be a 634 — they sound like they'll be pretty perfect aside from the rise, which I'd love to be 12" on a size 34. 11 will likely be fine though.
FWIW my 666XHS continue to break in more and more. I'm just wearing the shit out of em, putting all my other jeans on pause for the moment. Time for some focus, dammit

@popvulture I like the 634 but tend to size down with them that they don’t come too boxy for my liking. They have the perfect top block for me but could be a tad bit slimmer in the knee and hem, that’s why I size down and wait for the waist to stretch
The 888 has a great fit, works with engineers but I prefer the lower/mid waist of the 634/666. haven’t owned a 888, just tried them on in the store.
In general I prefer slightly slimmer straight leg cuts, although for more dressier occasions the 777 is great with the taper. -
Ahh, gotcha. I'm sorta obsessed with higher rise jeans lately, mainly due to just flat-out comfort level. I'm like HOLY SHIT I CAN MOVE MY LEGS TOTALLY FREELY :D. I also really like the way they look when they get properly whiskered.
Looking forward to trying some 634s. As it stands though, the vast majority of IHs I've owned have been 666. Solid-ass cut.

As someone whose first cuts were the 301 and 666, the 634 was a revelation, @popvulture

Seems like this is the move, for sure @henry_david
I've had a real strong itch to buy a pair in 21oz so I can give em a try, but I'm gonna wait for the UHR. Can't add 2 more pairs of jeans at the moment, or else truly nothing I own will ever fade haha…
-
lol I understand… Currently anxiously awaiting both the UHR and a restock of the IH-822.

My XHS is now in it's 6th month of continuous daily wear and the waist has stretched quite a bit compared to where it started - https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1819.msg701361#msg701361
For any of you out there starting out with a tight waist, I would recommend not to do what I did - https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1819.msg701495#msg701495
Let the denim naturally stretch which is the only way to get a comfortable fit after few weeks. I might wash it towards end of February with the hope that the waist will tighten a bit.

It has been just more than 6 months since I have been wearing my XHS and I gave it a quick hot soak today. Within minutes of putting it in the water, the water turned pale indicating the dirt it accumulated over the last 6 months of almost daily wear. Now looking forward to the result / fit post soak.
