Random Announcements

OK, here goes… after seeing the doctor in early October with a swollen gland at the base of my neck, and loads of subsequent tests, x-rays, scans and biopsies, I was diagnosed in late November with Hodgkin’s lymphoma (a type of cancer of the lymphatic system).
The reasons for this random announcement:
-
I’m losing tracking of who we’ve told and who we haven’t so felt it was probably easiest to tell everyone (and I apologise sincerely to all those I meant to contact personally).
-
to reassure my dear forum friends that I am hale and hearty! First of 12 chemotherapy sessions was today, and so far so good. The treatment has a great track record of complete cure – no guarantees of course, but we are feeling very positive.
-
to explain that I’m run ragged at present – hospital trips, keeping friends and family informed etc. is taking up so much time that I already didn’t have, so please excuse my absence from the forum, and delays in answering PMs and emails (please go to Giles or Matt if anything is urgent).
The next six months or so are likely to be challenging at times for all of The Stubborn Crew. I have set up a separate blog www.thelymphodiaries.com so that friends and family can check on my progress if/when they want to without me having to bore everyone rigid, including myself.
Oh, and this year we’ve made a donation to MacMillan Cancer Support instead of sending out cards and stuff – I am sure you will understand.
Fondest wishes to all for the Christmas and New Year Holidays – I, for one, intend to have a ball!

For one, I am completely humbled by how brave she is being (I'll get a massive bollocking for saying that).
But, I have to say I quite looking forward to not being the only adult in this family with hair loss issues…..
Ach, feel such a fraud - can honestly say that the only painful thing to date has been telling family and friends, in the grand scheme of things I am very lucky. And I should point out that my hair will grow back…

Take a break and relax yourself P. Do what you need to stay fresh and positive. U will be in Genny and my prayers. U are a great lady and i know you will be fine

my sweet Paula! G told me that today and all we (Ankie and me) can say is, that we send all the power we have straight to you and we are really sorry! Cancer is a diagnosis which makes everyone feel like getting hit by a huge hammer! So do I! Even if it´s not me! We are there for you no matter what and when! Besides that you have some really strong partners around you!! We wish you all the best and a wonderful christmas!!!! Love you!!!
Cancer feck off!!!!

Sorry to hear about that Mme B. I am convinced that the support of loved ones and a thrice daily dose of laughter can go a long way to curing most ills. May I then suggest a session or 2 of Sean Lock, a sprinkling of Michael Mcintyre and a hearty bout of caustic Bill Hicks? Maybe wash that down with a bit of Pilkington and Baileys (fire a few cheeky ones in, well it is xmas ). Big love from France xxx

Wishing you a speedy recovery and a Merry Christmas, you know where we are should you need anything.
