John Lofgren (Speedway)
-
I've had a pair of the John Lofgren Champion persimmon-dyed sneakers for the last year and a bit. They've seen occasional use, perhaps 3-4 times a month on average; and I consider myself a very 'light' user of footwear. I've only used them to walk around town and drive. I like them quite a bit, find them super comfy and considering getting a second pair on the denim color. However, I'm also concerned at what I find as premature aging on these.
The taped seams are what seems to be failing the test of time on mine. See both heels (pic below).
The taped seam is also fraying between the eyelets (pic below)
I'm wondering whether anyone else has experienced the same problems. I see @Haddtoo 555 uses his often as he posts pics. Any comments? Perhaps it only happens on the persimmon ones? Are the denim ones longer-lasting?

Can’t wait till mine look like that. I’m going to have to wear them more . Unfortunately I spend most my time in work boots….That being said, I like these so much might have to get a back up pair before they become unavailable. I think I will stop kicking them off, I have to untie all my sneakers before I put them on , maybe even use a shoe horn to put them on....nah
They look well worn....I like that. Would you buy them again ? Or move on ?

Where do you guys buy JL shoes in the US? I know of selfedge and standard and strange but any other retailers? Speedway via rakuten (https://global.rakuten.com/en/search/?sid=speedway-shop&tl=558885)?

Oops..missed your comments here @Haddtoo 555 .
I'll probably wait for the IH sneakers before getting the navy pair of JLs. I'm hoping the IH ones are a bit tougher than these. -
FIT CHECK: TSPTR x John Lofgren Vest
Not exactly sure if this belongs here but…
I bought this vest in both size M and L... my chest measurements are right at 41" around. The size M measures to around 44" and the L about 46"... Feel wise, the L feels a bit more comfortable to wear than the M. The M is a little snug through the waist and I feel like the length of the L is better... I can definitely feel the tightness through the waist in the M whereas the L has a little more room insiide. That being said, I'm new-ish to wearing outerwear vests and not exactly sure how they are supposed to fit. What do you guys think? Large or medium or can't tell the difference?

@tangfj I would go large. The M looks a little constricting in the midriff and closer fitting than it should be around the arms. The L looks great especially in the last pic and will offer more flexibility in the long run.
Also this thread normally gets quite a few responses if you'd like to ask there: https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=6887.msg377644#msg377644

Finally was able to upload a pic! Lol

Just ordered the Black Cat's from Standard and Strange. Pretty pumped to finally add a pair of Lofgren's to the collection. I'll post some photos/impressions when they come in later this week.

Received my Black Cats by Lofgren and Standard & Strange on Friday. Very pleased with the fit and shape of the boot. The construction definitely lives up to the hype as well. Will not be my last pair of Lofgrens.

Those boots certainly do look awesome!
I also do get 'Cuff Envy' when I see your boot posts.
Stellar work squire.

@bryaneidins thank you, sir. Cuff is king.

Anybody here have any experience with the Donkey Punchers?
I am looking at pre-ordering a pair in the natural CXL. I don't need another pair of boots, but I've had my eye on these for awhile and I am liking the new colorway.
Also, any input on sizing? I talked to the guys at Standard & Strange and they said based on my Wesco sizing to go with an 11D (my usual boot size pretty much across the board), despite the fact that the description says they run big and to size a full size down.

Received a new pair today…
Donkey punchers - Natural chromexel
this is my second attempt to buy the donkey punchers, first failed due to the wrong size, and then I failed to find my size. I had to wait for almost a year for new releases and finally found this boots in a different color(the first attempt was to buy burgundy).this is size - 9, and Natural Chromexel color.
I have bought them from Standard and Strange web store, some description from their website:
*6" lace-to-toe boot
*Goodyear Welted
*Exclusive John Lofgren last
*Natural Chromexcel Horween leather
*Japanese horsehide lining
*Vibram 705 sole + 700 heel combination
*American-made brass eyelets and speedhooks
*Stacked logger heel
*Removable leather 'kiltie' toe cover
*Made in JapanThe Horween Chromexcel in natural used for these boots has not been dyed or treated in any way, and will have a range of tones out of the box. With wear, they will settle into a uniform color from use.
my own first impression is very positive, they are comfortable like bespoke boots, and very well made.
horse hide lining, very soft and supple
sole edges has very nice finish
after initial treatment using some Saphir for chromexel stuff

Beautiful boots and love the natural color. Congrats!
