IH-888S-21 - 21oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - Indigo

I've grown out of mine again, sadly. The narrow knee measurement means they're too tight to move in freely when I add some muscle to my thighs. 6'1, 225lbs, 35" waist, own tag size 36. When my backside completely fills out the rear of these it also produces a weird crotch effect from the combo of the wide hip measurement and high front rise. I'm limited to baggy jeans or Levi's 541, and Levi's are only selling the inferior version of those jeans outside of America, for whatever reason.
I would absolutely love a more athletic version of these jeans, with a slightly wider thigh and some more knee width, and a regular front rise and hip. Pretty pleeeeeease.

My 888s after awhile. Note: they were tapered by Railcar Fine Goods in Los Angeles, California.

Sounds to me like you might want to check out self edge’s 633.

I was excited when you offered me a recommendation… unfortunately those jeans are miles off being wearable for me. In my waist size, 35, (tag 34) rear rise and thigh measurements are both short by nearly 2 inches, and the knee measurement is smaller than on the 888s.
Of the Iron Heart jeans I've seen, the 1955S that I own fit my legs well, but I find the very high front rise combined with wide hips provides lots of excess material in the crotch which is extremely unflattering. They look good so long as a wear a shirt that covers the crotch. They're obviously intended to be worn higher than I can wear them- my huge arse from years of weightlifting and sport means the rear rise is lost covering that.

It’s a struggle. Ive tried most of the cuts IH makes, at this point, and there are some trade-offs with some, while others just aren’t possible (777!). Sounds like 888 is your best option.
Have a peek at the 463. You’ll lose the taper, but this one is my absolute favorite for front/back rise ratio.

@richardjohn22 ! Have you considered the 634's. I am 5' 11, 235 pounds ,with 28 inch thighs and the 634's work. I can wear tag 36 for more of a slim 666 look or tag 38 which is my TTS. Just a thought. Now if you want a more taper fit, i can see the issue. I can wear the 888's also but i have to size up.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'd have to go a few tag sizes up on the waist to fit my legs… tag 33 is the 35inch waist pair...
Too tight for me all around. I do prefer taper on jeans- it's more an issue with bigger sizes- for shinny guys the opening isn't big. If a pair of Iron Heart jeans were perfect except the taper, I'd just pay to have them tapered…

That pair do have the perfect front/rear rise ratio for me! Iron Heart can do it! I wouldn't fit in the legs, though- they're tighter than the 888s. I just looked at the current 888 size listing, and they're very very close to perfect- a bit bigger than my pair on the thigh and knee. Just a shame about being 1.5 inches too high in the front rise.

If you like lower rise with a bit more room than a 777 look at the IH-NO -LOT. They only come in od but is worth a shot.

Question for the group…
I wear 634 size 34 and the fit is just right. I like a little room and I'm not as slim as I used to be.
I'm looking at the 888 cut to try out a higher rise w/tapered look, and because I like some room for my behind and thighs.
For those of you who have both cuts, do you wear the same size for 634s and 888s? The waist is marginally smaller on the 888s, but I don't want to size up if unnecessary. I'm inclined to stay with size 34, but as I said I like a little room, and I wouldn't want my 634s to be any smaller in the top block.
Thoughts? -
If your 634's feel roomie, i will go with the same size on the 888's. They will feel a bit more polished as they taper from above the knee. They have a higher rise that the 634's, feel about the same at the upper thigh, but they taper meaningfully around mid thigh. They will feel tighter at the knee and end up in a smaller led opening. Its a great cut!!

X post from WAYWT
156 wears and 2 washes in.
I've worn these almost every day since Oct 1. I have a few more weeks with them before I put them away to break in a pair of 888s-RE that I've been waiting on.

This cut looks like it would be perfect for me but I'm a little intimidated by the small waist measurements - is the taper up from the hips that intense? I see the 21oz stretches a fair bit, how are you all sizing this for a more fitted look?

In my experience, sizing down a full inch in the waist is possible on the 21oz. I usually target a 35" true waist, and I went with a size 34. It's worked out great for me.
