@seven_bacon welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy your time here and make some new friends.
You can dampen up the sleeves if you're going for monster creases/combs on the sleeves and otherwise just wear it.
My plane is pushing back or I'd write more…

Hello! I'm from the US, and new to Iron Heart but not to raw denim. Seeing all the IH wear photos here and on the Reddit board, I think I've been bitten by the IH bug. So I joined up to research the product line and maybe buy a used piece from this community. I've already learned a ton just lurking around. Thanks

@urrrrgrrrr welcome to the forum! My real name is Mike.
Please tell us your name and consider looking at the for sale threads and maybe let us know your current favorite best fitting pair of jeans measurements are when measuring like the video embedded below, and maybe someone might have something for you.
Either way, everyone here is awesome and super helpful. So please feel free to ask about anything you might be interested in or want to know about.

@Filthy thanks Mike for the warm welcome. My name is also Mike but I can go by Michael to avoid confusion, or whatever you'd like to call me is fine, you could do like my wife and just call me "lazy SOB"
My current pair of jeans are Railcars with ~ 100 wears so they're still in the prime of life. Using the IH measuring method they're 17.5 waist, 10.75 front rise, 15.5 back rise, 12.5 thigh, 8.5 knee, 7.2 hem. Inseam is 30" cuffed to prolly 28". Those jeans are a bit loose on me in the top block but not overly so, and give me a bit of loose diaper ass which is really a problem with all my pants. Below the thigh the fit is perfect. I'm a short dude and I think that the knee/hem measurements on these are perfect.
SO what IH cut should I be looking at? Just by browsing around here I've kind of arrived on the idea of either 777 in size 34 or the 555 in 33, in the standard 21-oz indigo version. Does that sound reasonable to you given my current fit? Thanks
-
I am reluctant to to give advice on fit… but maybe @neph93 @Appfaff or @sabergirl can help?
-
@urrrrgrrrr Good work with your measuring and research.
Unless you have a lot of room in the thigh on your Railcars, I think you're going to struggle with the IH-555s-21 in w33. The thigh on those is very small and the taper in the thigh is mean. Sizing up will probably give you the nappy butt issue as the 555 top block is relaxed. The 777 in W34 sounds like a better shout for you.
I'd also encourage you to look at the IH-888s-21 in a w33. The waist will seem small, but that is deceptive.

@neph93 @sabergirl Thanks for the info! Makes sense that the 777 might be the right choice for me. I am interested in the 888 too, Neph I've seen you recommend that to several other people, but would the relatively high front & rear rise on that cut cause me butt problems, you think? Maybe I'll just try them both out! Thanks again

would the relatively high front & rear rise on that cut cause me butt problems, you think?
So-called diaper butt is a result of a poorly fitted top block, not a high rise. While the 555 and 888 both have high rises, the design of the top block is entirely different. This is also why I advocate sizing down a little on 888’s if possible.
-
I agree with Neph and Saber! A 777 would work, but the rise would be much lower, but the 888 sounds like the tapered fit you are after!

Happy to join the forum. 38 years old. Tired of crappy clothes. I have been an Iron Heart fan for quite some time. Starting off the collection with the following:
IHSH-234-BLK
IHSH-276-IND
IHT-1610L (Grey, White, Olive)Eyeballing the 666 cut for first denim purchase. Ill probably jump on the 21oz Shinayaka when it comes out.
Also a fan of Good Art HLYWD.
Old stuff or really well made modern stuff pretty much sums up my interests. Just took a while to get started on clothing.

She may have, and I will never know because as I cant be arsed to look at bank or credit card statements she looks after all our finances (business and personal). Just so that I can buy stuff she should not know about;
fishing tackle, Kayaks and Kayak gear, stuff that I do not need for the kitchen, fishing holidayspresents for her, I have my own personal PayPal account, she refers it as my fishing tackle slush fund.I phoned Josh up to ask him if he would do an episode of the podcast, but the conversation went on for so long, I had to break off and cook…

Some things are priceless -
New member here from Leicestershire…. currently breaking these Wescos to my feet...and hopefully my order of 888s 21oz will arrive tomorrow.
Welcome Phil. Lovely looking English garden in the spring sunshine. Look forward to hearing your take on the 21oz denim and 888 cut.

Hi all, thanks for the add. Relative newbie to higher-end/heavier denim although I've spent an unhealthy amount of time reading the forums over the last couple weeks Just received my first IH piece, a 13-T and I'm loving it.
I'm a fairly athletic guy with big(er, 25") thighs so a lot of the slim fits won't work as well - for that reason I'm looking at the 888's, but I see some of you that love the room in the top block of the 888's also get away with a pair of 555's. Are you just letting the waist go in the 555's? I like a fairly trim fit in my jeans but don't want to be fighting with them every time I go to put my shoes on. Wondering if I could get away with a 34W in the 555's vs a 33 or even 32 in the 888's, would love some advice.
Happy to move this to a product page if that’s a better place, thanks again and greetings from Wisconsin, USA

Welcome @ThunderHawk good to have you here.
The top block of the 555 and 888 are pretty different in most ways. I have had both but as someone with chunky thighs, the 888 are the only ones that fit right, with the sort of comfort you talk about. The exception is the upcoming IH-555-SST. This is a stretch denim. I’ve been wearing the sample and it is much comfier and easy to wear for me.
My advice would be to measure your best fitting pair of tapered jeans using the same methods as used on the videos from the product pages. Then compare your results with the measurement charts. When you’ve done that you can better ask questions on the relevant threads.
Good luck.

Thanks @neph93 will do - super interested in a stretch 555!
