IH-634S - 21oz Selvedge Denim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo

21oz has been known to stretch more than 1” when it has to. If the thighs already feel tight, I say go for it. Worst that happens they will be the most comfy pair of Baggy pants you’ve ever had!

One possible good thing is that you won't have to worry about shrinkage, and can wash and dry any way you want,as they'll stretch back out again.
Thanks for all your responses really appreciate it! I'll go to Self Edge store to see if they 36 for comparison, if not I'll just hem and keep the 38.

@MrSmith it certainly doesn’t look like a flaw. The weft/warp pattern is consistent and there doesn’t seem to be anything torn, frayed or out of place.
It may be a product of the weaving process, but given the proximity to the hem and the fact that it looks parallel to the hem, I believe it may be a result of the hammering that the leg opening takes prior to chainstitching. This would be entirely normal. Alternatively, if you have cuffed the jeans that would also create such an effect.
Have they been hemmed, and if so, who by? Also, is anything visible on the face of the fabric?

@neph93 I have them cuffed, a decent double cuff (or a big cuff and then another cuff over that, I'm not sure what that is called), so the spot is actually about 6" up the leg. I haven't worn them yet so it is definitely not from wear. Also, they have not been hemmed, they are the original length. There is nothing visible on the face which is why I wasn't sure what this was.
I actually may return these as I was on the fence with this pair anyway (I have other pairs in similar weights). I was going to go with a pair of XHS during the sale…but I waited too long debating.

Here's the pair of 634S I'm currently in love with. They're nothing special, but they're mine.
Very nice fades. Mines are..well, a bit younger [emoji28]

Hello all. I won a almost new pair of 634S-21 on ebay. Size is 33 and they have been hemmed to 31". I typically wear jeans stretched to 34" and a 30" inseam works best. I wore them all day yesterday and the waist was a bit painful but I feel like they did stretch some. I soaked them last night and then stretched them over a 17" hanger - it was very thick plastic but by this morning it seemed slightly warped so I think the jeans are winning. I like jeans a bit loose but these are maybe too baggy in the thighs so the 666 may be a better option for me? The thickness and stiffness of the denim is extreme - I'm having a tough time imagining these ever getting broken in. They seem to be an incredibly high quality product but gonna take a lot of effort to get them to be the favorite pair.

Strangely, I find my pair of 634S 21oz to be by far the most confortable I ever owned. I'm 1 month in, but right off the bat they were more comfortable than any of raw 15oz pair of jeans I ever owned. Yes, they are thick, but incredibly soft and comfy, at least in my opinion.
I needed to size up 1 (35 but im usually like a 34), but with the correct inseam length, I don't even feel that those are "straight leg". Incredible feeling and fit.

@t777jb I would say stick with them, the 21oz yields fairly easily in my experience and becomes luxuriously soft quite quickly - tbh my experience, which is quite a few items at this point, with 21oz has been that it starts very soft and pliable so surprised to hear you're finding them so stiff. Could you share a picture of the patch?
If the struggle continues beyond a couple of weeks I would guess that they just don't fit you, in which case I'd say move them along and try a different (more fitted around the thigh) cut in a bigger size. It's always worth measuring up an existing pair that you feel fit you well and compare them with IHUK's measurements.
If you're really stuck on which cut/size will work best for you, you can either post your ideal dims based on another pair on the forum and we'll help, or go direct to IHUK who will lavish upon you the most excellent customer service

The 21oz fabric will stretch 1 inch or more with regular wear. Is will also soften quickly with wear. I also, like its been said, find them very agreeable from the get to go for a denim of this weight. If the pair feels too loose in the thighs,a 666 cut maybe better suited for you, but more likely you will have to go up one in size since the top block of the 666 is pretty fitted. Anyways you have a very nice pair of jeans!

I had to get a pair of 634 in the flagship denim. I’m in love with this cut. I thought I was a 666 for life guy but the 634 has been an eye opener. I forgot how nice it is to walk up a steep incline or climb something and not have my 666 restrict my thighs.
Here’s a potato quality photo drunkenly taken at my friend’s house in his full size mirror.

@Palmer gotta say the 634 cut suits you well!
