Random Rants

sigh
Less a rant than defeated sorrow for the current and future state of affairs. When discussing the merits of a dry climate here, I present a pretty major downside. My wife is in Santa Fe and I plan on taking our daughter down there to join her for Mother's Day this weekend if there isn't too much PM2.5 in the atmosphere. Fire season has barely started by historical standards, but look at this:
-
Seems they're so frequent, they're getting casual with the names. "Smoke Stack Lightning."

and west to California and north to Washington and as you say it's early on
-
@mclaincausey you were 30 minutes from me and didn’t PM!?!?!?

The best thing you can do with the R&R HoF is pretend it doesn't exist. It's like those ridiculous Rolling Stone "greatest ______ of all time" lists. We're better than they are so their opinions are moot.
To not have Sonic Youth, Little Feat, and many others in there shows you they don't know their elbows from their assholes when it comes to the subject at hand.

@Matt having a Hip Hop hall of fame seems like a disaster waiting to happen. How many rock and rollers (and their fans) have "beef" that gets settled in the streets. Let's have NBA Youngboy or Lil' Yachty get snubbed for best mumble rap of the year.
This is stereotyping at its finest, but I'll stick my neck out for this one.
BTW, I love great hip hop and think a lot of the rhyme schemes, delivery, and beats are genius.

Sonic Youth is not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. That is all.
Sonic Youth is the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

That said, give me the Source Awards over the Grammys any day of the week. Do not get me started on the fucking Grammys.
Hey Matt… I’m interested in hearing your opinion on the Grammys.
I, too, am interested in hearing your opinions on the Grammys. The most hallowed, objectively, accurate award ceremony of musical arts America has to offer.

Well, since you asked. The Grammys ignores a disturbingly large portion of new music in favor of what’s readily accessible on top 40 radio. Clean, polished radio friendly actors like Green Day and Maroon 5. It celebrates not the quality of musicianship, songwriting or even critical acclaim and instead celebrates music that achieves its popularity from children and low IQ adults.
I accept that the Grammys are what they are and not something I’d prefer them being, but as a lover of good music I still hate them.
