5 years ought to be just long enough for me to spring for silver hardware jeans

Looking to get these and I see anniversary mentioned.
How long would I have to wait and what type of extra features would I be getting? I'm not looking for anything showy.Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk

sanity check aka talk some sense into me.
I've bought several (like way too many) IH shirts off the classifieds past couple months.
Really enjoy them all.Have been wanting to try the jeans. Until I get my sizing down, hesitant to buy anything new and have been hesitant to even pull the trigger on some used stuff because it's still a few hundred bucks in many cases.
I've got a few pairs of Brave Star, mostly true straight and slim straight. A size 33 is typically good snug (can get away not wearing a belt), but 34 is probably right, maybe slightly too loose (not anything crazy) but certainly more comfortable. The 33 usually come out to about a 17.25-17.5 inches one side measurement.
I know someone selling 634S in size 36, full waist measurement pretty close to 36. Well worn, a few washes, etc.
Is that just going to be too big? I've read many posts here that you really can't expect any shrinkage. My first thought was to hot wash them and blast in the dryer.
I'm 6'0 about 180-185lbs. I think Giles mentioned he's a 34 in these. I'd say I'm slightly bigger than Giles. I'm guessing 35 is probably my right size and I'm just dreaming about buying these 36 because they're a good deal and I can finally get my feet wet with my first pair. But what's the point if they going to be too big.
Anyway, hoping someone is similar size to me and maybe has some Brave Stars for reference and can walk me through how this might go. TIA

Stop now. They’ll be too big. I’m about your size and weight and wear W34 in 634S. They stretch a lot and will not shrink meaningfully, regardless of what you do to them. You’d probably fit a 34 snug or 35 comfortable.

My pleasure. Nice to have such a straightforward one to answer.

You already got your answer re size 36.
Do not base anything on Brave Star size charts as they are notorious for their inconsistency (size, quality, etc) - absolutely measure them for actual size and read the IH "how we measure" to compare.
Also, going by length and weight alone is only a rough approximation with +/- 2 waist sizes.
Again, take a pair of good fitting pants and measure them the IH way. Then go to the IH sizing charts.
Do not skip this. Do not just measure waist. Do as recommended. IH put a lot of effort into this stuff. Use it. -

It sounds like the average pair will stretch about an inch in the waist. I'm assuming the more strain it's under, the more stretch you'll get. So like I said, 17.25 to 17.5 (the IH way) is about the right fit for me once everything has been broken in. I know I need to consider rise, thighs, etc., as well, but I want to at least make sure that part is right. So I'll probably looking for 17 new or 17.5 if it's got some wears on it already, and see how it goes from there.
Thanks again.

That's exactly what it says on the product page

Up to a point…...

Just picked up my first pair of Iron Hearts. Really liking them so far. I had them send me essentially 1 of each fit and added the 634s in 21oz at the last minute, thinking that I wouldn't like them but I might as well give them a try. I'm really glad that I did because the others are all going back and the 634s are keepers. I'm excited to see how they fade over the next couple of years.

Congratulations. And they look great on you. Nice that the OG model still turns heads.

They look superb @TexasCrane The 634 is also my favourite cut and was my first IH piece. Enjoy!

Day one for the 634S, I sized down to 32 from my normal 33 and I think I made the right choice. My first pair of straight up 21oz IH denim, I've had 25, 17N, 14 and 21 overdyed but never the classic 21. I am quite pleased with the fit and feel.
Apologies for the dirty mirror -
Looks great. I’m partial to 634. Only cut I own.

@moto of all the denims you listed be also worn them all and more, and I can honestly say while I love each fabric, my favorite pair are my 11 year old 21z Beatle Busters. IMO they haven’t come up with anything better. I started with 25 so I can’t even say it’s because they were my first. They feel so soft when broken.
