IHSH-33-OD - 12oz Selvedge Denim Western Shirt - Indigo Overdyed Black
-
I wanted the 33od because I thought it would get better with time. Living in it while it does has become a great joy.

Either 3rd or 4th wash, not sure

New to IH. Came across it on IG and this is my first piece. I'm hooked. Has me looking at my Filson stuff like its inferior.
Just posting day one pics….no soaking or washes yet. Will post when some good fades start.
I'm 5'11" 170lbs and chose a Large.
I'm wearing a Filson waffle thermal underneath
Just looking to bring in the waist and bottom opening a touch ( wondering if it can even be done )
Will update with measurements laterSlight change in lighting gives a much different tone.
One for the watch guys

IMO it’s a perfect fit already, I don’t see any need to bring it in.

Welcome to the forum. Classic shirt and it looks real good.
Imho getting that shirt tailored would be an error. Firstly, the fit is great. Secondly, while it can be done, you’ll be ruining some of the best constructional stitching in the business and replacing it with something practically (and probably aesthetically), sub-standard. So paying more for a poorer end result when the original looked perfect seems unnecessary.

Yeah ok, that was sort of my initial fear. The stitching is beautiful. Thanks for the reply

One more thing.. it just occurred to me that as this is the OD version, matching the stitching will be impossible. This is garment dyed so the stitching is OD’ed too. The stitching on a tailoring job can never match it.

@neph93 I thought the poly cotton thread did not take up the dye?
In any event, shirt looks great on you @HalfPastNever. I agree with endo and neph that I would at least wear it and wash it a few times before you consider alterations. It will mold to your body.
I too got into higher quality clothing via Filson. While I still consider them a great brand, their fabrics and construction don’t really compare to IH.

@HalfPastNever The shirt fits great on you, and its exactly how the Western cut is supposed to look. I have a similar "(non) issue" with my Wabash but i left it alone. You wouldn't want to bring the shirt in at the bottom anyhow, you would be looking more at taking an inch or an inch and half up instead. But as stated by other posters, leave it and enjoy.
The westerns have longer body's and a more tapered silhouettes that flares a bit at the bottom, and it takes a bit of getting used to.
You can experiment with fits you like by buying a work shirt next time and seeing how a bit of a roomier and shorter body works for you aesthetically.
summed up: shirt looks just fine, leave it and enjoy your IH.

I'm going to take everyones advice and leave it for a while after the initial soak. I actually don't like box fit clothing. I was suggesting that I wanted the shirt to be more fitted to my body. I'm wearing a Filson thermal underneath in the pictures and its rather thick. When I wear a t-shirt, theres a lot more room.
Where in MN are you? I didn't think I would find a fellow Minnesotan in the forum.
Thank you to all who responded. Much friendlier place then many other forums I have been on.

One question about this beautiful shirt.
Is it sulphur dyed?
There is no information about it on the product page.
Best regards.
