I just managed to snatch a random large that popped up at one of the authorized retailers. This will be my first IH flannel, so I'm pretty excited. I figured if I'm going to do it, I may as well try the 20th anniversary edition and do it right, lol. You all have a great community here and I'm excited to be a part of it.

@Croft will be your first, but def not your last

Well, I received my shirt, and it's definitely a beauty. It's bittersweet though, because the p2p measurements are an inch smaller than what's listed. If it would've been 22", I think the fit would've been spot on. I also have broad shoulders, so even the smallest shrinkage would probably result in it being unwearable. What say you guys? Are the dimensions normally off by that much? I can button the top button, but it wouldn't be comfortable enough to keep that way. I don't know what odds are that I could find someone to trade with me, but spending that much, I'd rather not be on pins and needles about the fit.

If I’m correct the measurements are an average of the shirts received. There is usually some variation but 1” seems like a bit much. I’m not sure if this lot was different because of the overdyed nature of it? Sorry it came in smaller, any chance you can exchange it?

Yeah, the sizing on this one really threw me off. The P2P basically measures almost exactly what a Medium should measure. Exchanging it will probably be next to impossible, since everywhere (including where I ordered from) seems to be sold out. The shirt is extremely nice though, so I understand why everyone loves these so much. I just happen to be 6'1 185 lbs, so I can rarely fit into a medium in anything.
-
Yes, they can vary. I mentioned this in the post about my experience several pages back. I measured the side length of every single medium in Gosport and also saw a variation of up to an inch.

The published measurements are an aggregate of a sample taken from what arrives in Gosport. An inch is a relatively large deviation but not unheard of.
That being said… you have options.
1. The shirt will not shrink with careful washing due to the overdying. It will likely relax with wear however. You may get half an inch of stretch.
2. The fit doesn’t look bad. Trim for sure, with a little bit of button pull at the chest. I have some shirts that fit like that and find that opening the bottom button and too button a lá @Olly helps massively. Play about a bit and see what works best.
3. You’ll be able to flip it on the aftermarket for most, if not all of the outlay
If it were me, I’d wear it a few days, open, closed with an undershirt, and without. You’ll likely find it works. Then just hand wash and line dry.

Thanks man, I really appreciate the response. The good news is I just found another random large pop up online and I had the shop measure it p2p. This one is 22" spot on, so it should be a perfect fit. I'll more than likely sell this one outright to recoup my funds. I do love this shirt.

I'm struggling with this one too. I love it, but the arm length is bugging me. I don't want to have it tailored, and if I take measures like hitting the sleeves with hot water from a kettle I worry about resale as well as the arm holes becoming too small.
-
sizing for me was tricky for me too as I noticed the extra lengths in the arms. Went a size down from normal UHF and I'm really counting on the OD having taken the shrink out and it relaxing a bit as my others have, because if it shrinks at all in the chest, it likely wont be comfortable for me. Somewhat wish I had ignored the sizing chart and blindly ordered the usual XL but I think it will work. It certainly looks tailored to me right now in a good way.
Also, i dont think it's been mentioned, but there's a unique smell to this UHF that the other UHFs didnt have when I got new, that is somewhat pleasing to me, perhaps from the OD? Smells like cozy warmth :D.

Have you worn it for a while? Usually creasing in the sleeves cause them to shorten a bit. I would suspect that wearing it while damp would cause even more creasing.
