Wonder Looper
-
Wonder Looper is a spin off from Naked & Famous. Thought I’d try out one of Wonder Looper’s new heavyweight T’s. They also do a crewneck sweater, and a pullover hoodie.
First impressions, as I've only just opened the package.
After a looser fit for the hotter months, I went with an XL. For comparison, I normally take an XL in IH shirts and my IHTL-1501.
The fabric is awesome. Very soft and very heavy.
I like the longer sleeves. The length on the body might limit this to a more casual look. There’s plenty of fabric to tuck it in even on the lowest of low rise jeans (it almost completely covers my ass untucked).
Construction seems to be really good all over. I’m a big fan of the flat stitch seams on the sides and under the sleeve.
There’s a lumpier seam attaching the body to the sleeves.
Despite being slightly heavier fabric, the weave has much more give to it than my IHTL-1501. (I couldn’t even squeeze my shoulders into a smaller IHTL-1501 when I tried on an L in the store). It’s still 100% cotton so must be something to do with the tightness of the respective knits.
Like I say, it’s quite long, and can look a little like a tunic under a shorter jacket if left untucked. Taller guys who struggle to find tees with enough length should love it.
Given how much more forgiving the fabric is than the IHTL-1501, I probably could size down once, or possibly even twice, for a shorter T and a more fitted look. But I’ll be holding onto this for a more slouchy and summer style for now.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed my little review to kick off this thread.

@EdH - Great review. On the strength of it, I have picked one up from Jeanstore. Got a small and am usually a small in IH shirts.
-
@Crispy-Heron that’s where I got mine from too. A tenner more expensive than direct from WL, but you save having to import it from Japan.
-
Great review and great look @EdH
Have had a look at this one quite a few times…How’s the sweat factor? The 1600 gets hard to handle quickly
-
Echoing everyone - thanks for the review.
Been eyeing this brand for a minute and always wondered how it'll last down the road. I tend to wear my shit to the ground lol.
I've always been skeptical of N&F too so hoping theybhave a separate trajectory. From what I've read and seen, seems like a good product -
@weftyarn will have to get back to you on that front. Consider the first post above a first impressions piece. My guess would be that it feels more breathable so might be less sweaty than IH’s 11oz tees. Will give it a full day’s wear tomorrow.

@J-IV will keep you posted on how it washes, etc.
-
@EdH cool write up! Saw them
As well! Looks good on you! -
I picked up another couple of these Ts in a size L on sale, one in white and one in their khaki (which is a dark, brown-green).
I’m happier with this fit for a fitted look compared to the XL. They were initially a little tight on the chest and in the pits, but loosened up nicely with a little wear. My sizing advice would be to size down one compared to your IH size in a UHF or 11oz T.
The white is not quite a pure white. It’s maybe four-fifths of the way to white compared to IH’s 11oz cream colour way. Here it is (at the back) against the cream IH 11oz T, and a white-but-well-worn formal shirt. Hopefully you can see a bit of difference.
I’ll try to remember to take a picture of the khaki once it’s out of the wash.

I just ordered one of their Pima T’s yesterday when they were released. Did yours take long to deliver from WL?
-
@Gulliver I ordered from JeansStore in the UK, not direct from WL, I'm afraid.
@jerkules There's not much in it, both feel like you're wearing the T-shirt equivalent of light-armour. On a breezy evening in April-ish, I remember thinking to myself that my forearms were feeling the wind, but my torso could barely feel a thing.

I own one of their 701 gsm (21oz) French Terry sweat shirts, and man this thing is HEAVY! Love the quality of their stuff!
Can’t wait for their zipped hoodie in the fall.
-
Just picked up one of their 701 gsm sweatshirts as well. On par with their heavyweight t’s which is pretty freaking nice.
-
10/10 fit @flannel-slut I really like the chunky hem too.
-
Thanks!! @jordanscollected me too man. Based off the measurements, I sized down one from their t’s and lucked out.

@t4920 I believe their double heavyweight t shirt is listed at 12oz not 14. With that said, yes, they both have a similar feel/heft. I doubt WL is making false claims to the oz and discerning the difference between an ounce or two by hand is unlikely. In this case I would trust Bahzad over an IG post.
