@EdH he's got a bug up his ass

@sabergirl I thought so, but now I'm not sure - the article refers to it being able to 'escape' digestive enzymes, but that's maybe a bit ambiguous...

@goosehd - guessing more meat on the leg than the wing…
Edit: in fact, shouldn’t you be moving this post to the BBQ thread?

Well, it was just on the grill lid as I was opening it. I politely asked it to go away. I'm wondering if it's going to show up today again at some point.

Back in the early 2000s, two 16 year cicadas cycles ago, when I was a late teenager, friends of mine willingly ate these insects alive for cash. Not $50, $20 or even $10 bills, we're talking $1 or $5. It was gross and hilarious but also kind of a bummer for the cicadas. Last 16 year cycle was a few years ago and I collected ten of them and made a insect display from them. I can take a photo next time I remember.

Found this dude on the tile just inside our screen door. Seemed lethargic and when I tried to release it onto the azalea bush, it promptly flew back into my hand and onto my Untucked shirt. Hung with me for a few more moments and then flew away into the forest. Was a pretty cool time. Also found another bird inside today but that's another story.
