Where do we report issues with the new forum?
-
@marco23d yeah much more enjoyable, indeed! Loading issue or not, I definitely prefer pages either way — for whatever reason it just gives me a clearer definition of time, plus I find it easier to go back and look for stuff if I roughly remember where it is page-wise.

@marco23d big thank you for this!!!

Oh wow - yes thanks also - just stumbled into this thread and you have solved something that was driving me nuts!!

@popvulture @DeeDee85 we've been aware of it for a while and have looked in to multiple fixes, to no avail so far.
We don't want to make pagination the default, as by design the infinite scroll is meant to reflect more of a "news feed" type experience, as you get on Reddit for instance. However, Reddit doesn't have inline imagery, for this exact reason.
One solution floated was having images hidden by default with a "click to view" but this would impact the engagement, especially on image driven threads such as WAYWT etc.
I'm sorry we haven't found a full solution for it yet, but it's being worked on I assure you. Thank you for your patience, hope the pagination is an ok work around in the meantime. Once we've made significant development with Version 3 of the current platform I will post an update

@AdamJ thanks for the update, the pagination option is much less stressful now that I know about it
-
I appreciate the info @AdamJ — that all makes sense. I get the value of the news feed experience and am definitely into that, but I'm completely ok with doing the paginated version until something gets worked out. And absolutely no worries at all re: not finding a solution yet! This stuff goes way over my head, and I'm in awe that y'all pull off what you do. Thank you!

The blue bar is floating in the middle of the page when scrolling.
Safari on iPhone 15 pro. I didn’t see this problem yesterday.

We're in the early phases of testing NodeBB Version 3 behind the scenes and hopefully the image/post moving issue will be sorted. Early doors but encouraging signs.
In addition, we're planning a number of UI improvements, particularly on mobile. We've been on the new forum for just over a year now so time for a new lick of paint I reckon.

I shifted to paginated mode on mobile (almost entirely the way I access) because the scrolling getting messed around as images loaded was maddening. I would suggest that the “latest post” on the turquoise bar should go to the bottom of a given page in this mode, since the pagination controls at the bottom already have the oldest/newest post controls.

@ARNC i’m seeing this too! 3 or 4 times today
