@iammortalcombat sorry to hear man

I dislike being a bearer of more bad news, but my wife and I are putting my parent's golden retriever, Mazy, down today. After my dad a stroke in December 2022, we adopted her. She lived her best life here in WV, visiting the Potomac River, playing with tons of toys, and eating plenty of treats (and healthy human food). We had her for 15 months, and tonight the vet said bring her in to say goodbye.
Mazy was in my family since I was early on in my undergrad degree in Shepherdstown, WV. She was kind of a jerk as a puppy lol, she would steal toys from the older dog Annie and hoard them. Sometimes two or even three toys in her mouth at a time. She was cunning, sharp and faster than the dogs she lived with.
We were lucky enough to spend time with her as a senior dog, and we loved sharing our time with her. My wife especially fell in love with Mazy and is having a super difficult time with the news today. We will be bringing her to the river one more time after work and feeding her the rest of the strawberry ice cream from the freezer.
We will still have our two year old puppy, Rosie with us but we will be down from three dogs to just one.
I am doing okay but as I said, Amanda is really upset. I guess it is because I have been through a lot in my day and she has lived a mostly pretty non-traumatic life. This is almost one year after our puppy Indigo had to be put down with last June. We have not had a great track record and it totally fucking sucks.
Please raise a glass for Mazy tonight if you find yourself thirsty, and put an ounce out for her to share. Rosie and Mazy last week in our driveway.
Mazy with her dolphin. She loves her dolphin and her gator and monkey toys.

I’m truly sorry to hear this. From our family to yours please accept our heartfelt thoughts.
These little creatures are every bit a part of a family. They’ll steal your heart and your socks all in one.

My wife just brought back Norma from the groomer. She hates car rides, so she’s glad to be back home.

@iammortalcombat and @Oaktavia I feel for both of you going through this. Your dogs were well-loved, and lived their best lives with you. ️

@sabergirl thank you for the kind words.
@Oaktavia sorry to hear you are having to go through it too.
Hold em close folks. Give them the table scraps,let them chase the squirrels. They really do leave us before we are ready.

@iammortalcombat I had not scrolled down enough to see your post yesterday. Hopefully, somewhere in the multiverse or wherever they go, Chunkie and Mazy are paling around together chasing demon squirrels.

@iammortalcombat @Oaktavia Your pups were lucky to have you in their lives. Condolences to you both. Love and strength to your wife Stevie.
