How I rowed 50 million meters

@indigostiff amazing! Congratulations and thanks for sharing. I really want an erg.
Have you tracked your Functional Threshold Power (FTP) through the process? I bet it’s gone through the roof.
-
Good job @indigostiff — that's badass! I've found that regular exercise does wonders for me, especially mentally. It's the best.
Also who else started singing the Proclaimers when they read the thread title?

That's some insane dedication right there, appreciate the write up/inspiration!
There's a lady I assume to be her 70s who is in the pool I use between the hours of 7-10am every single day, swimming uninterrupted lengths. If I'm there early for my 45 minutes, she there.. If I'm there later, she's there...
I hope to catch her in the sauna or jacquizi one day, to ask about her routine and dedication, but alas, she just keeps swimming...
I can only assume that you and her share the trait of unwavering dedication to your health and physical wellbeing, big respect!

@indigostiff Outstanding achievement! Congratulations

thanks for the very thorough write up. i get to jump on a concept2 fairly often at our gym (i'm the type of patron that needs programing/coaches to tell me what to do) - i've considered buying a rower in the past though....your post has certainly given me something to think about

Thank you all for your positive comments! This is such a nice, supportive group, so I thought to add this here.

I do 10ks 5-6 times a week.
It is always interesting to hear people's relationships to their Concept II. There's something magical happening between the person and that little computer, the mind constantly trying to break down times, distances and other numbers. What I found over the last couple of years is that I can do better going by distance than going by time.
My dad started with a model A way back when, I have a model C at home and a model D in my holiday house. Sometimes I have the feeling that this machine is the only thing that's keeping me sane. -
@indigostiff this is really cool to ready. When I do make it to the gym, the rowing machine is always a part of my workout. My wife was just talking about getting one for our home. Thanks for posting man! May have just been the inspiration I needed to take the next steps toward row master!

I love this!
You're a splendid writer and an inspiration! Somehow I needed to read your words in order to push myself out of the comfort zone I find myself in - which does actually not feel comfortable at all. Here's to the next 50 million metres!
Glad I found this forum!

Well done to keep this going! My family would kill me with the noise these things make (upstairs room open to the rest of the house), but I was close to buying one of the wooden rowers with the water thingy on account of less noise and frankly not quite as hideous optics. Will re-consider for next winter to replace my zwift setup.

You’re an inspiration @indigostiff! What a commitment—I’m sure this is one addiction that will only serve you well.

Interesting. Admirable consistency. What's your longest streak of rowing everyday?
Any thoughts of getting on a boat? -
@Nik 30+ days every day, but usually broken by weekends. No real interest in a scull yet, but maybe some day to get a bit more social, etc. Travel time is a negative plus maintenance in having a scull -- but the carbon ones are beautiful!
-
@indigostiff your post pushed me over the edge
New rower installed!

@Tobi that’s a beauty! Just make sure you keep up with the water treatment, and it looks like you have addressed the performance monitor. Now row away!
