@iamjustdanny depending on where you are at, you might be able to find a dealer willing to work with you.
Yep. To my knowledge, it's not too hard to find someone willing to sell one to me. Basically, you can own it, just can't carry it.
-
@Matt That's sort of what I figured. I haven't been hassled or asked by the cops to show my pocket contents to them.
You're probably right in that I could get away with it.

The laws here in Canada are pretty strict, but for the most part they leave you alone (unless you're being an arsehole). The biggest catch 22 is the intent on carrying a knife. For the most part, you should be fine if you state it's a tool and you use it as such. If you state it's for protection, expect the worst.
However, switchblades, knives with knuckledusters in the handle, butterfly knifes, push daggers, hidden knifes (such as belt buckle knives, sword canes, etc) are prohibited and will end up putting you into a world of trouble.

I’d risk it. Especially for a Microtech.
Down the line, yes! They are some very fun knives to have.
At the moment, I do have enough knives to rotate through for EDC. Though, if a deal did come along that I couldn't pass up...

@iamjustdanny as others have already said, you can get away with more than you think. Just stop thinking
Btw, your niece has esquisite entertainment taste

That's the problem!!! I can't turn this brain off on command!!!
Yes, my niece is pretty awesome

To echo what has already been said, I happily carry in CA, and would say the knife was a gift (if I ever had to use said knife defensively). That being said, I also don’t seek conflict, so this isn’t truly a worry for me. It’s one of those, “we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it” sort of deals.

Couldn't resist this one. The shape is called 'Le London' here, a classical 19th century sailor's knife. The intarsia shows the ermine spot from the Flag of Brittany.

@endo The dry salamis and figs will be sliced with the utmost elegance. The brie, however, will still be annoying to cut.

Picked these up today, green for myself and the black is a Father’s Day gift for my dad. -
I agree and I have carried a pocket knife clipped to my side right pocket "tip up" for 40 years plus. My current EDC is a Spyderco Delica 4 with a half-serrated VG-10 blade in black tactical.
My other knife is based on the fact that I practice FMA (Filipino Martial Arts) is a folding Karambit. Specifically the Fox 599 in Titanium with Elmax stainless steel blade.
Another essential in my mind is a torch or flashlight as they call it in Canada, which I carry in my back pocket clipped. I use the Nextorch TA30C.

@endo That is a really nice design. Is it a fixed blade or folder?
-
folder @Denman-John
-
Hiroaki Ohta friction folder in desert ironwood today
-
@mclaincausey beautiful. I think desert ironwood is my favorite natural scale material.
-
@SKT well in that case, I should show you my Spyderco where I replaced the factory micarta:
