A good thing I find about the kids being off school is that it forces you to be a tourist in your own city. Yesterday we went to watch “Rough Magic” at Shakespeare’s Globe theatre on the Thames South Bank.
Our train terminates on the doorstep of the Tower of London and Tower Bridge - two landmarks that I’ve walked past countless times that I’ve stopped paying attention. The enthusiasm and wonder of little kids is good for lifting your eyes up and noticing things that you otherwise miss every day.
“Rough Magic” was an imagining of what happens to the Macbeth witches after the story ends. The premise is that the infamous prophecy made by the witches in Macbeth was actually an error from a junior witch. As a result, the human world has realised they can influence their fates more than they should… It was genuinely a great play that we all enjoyed - a small cast of 4 kept the energy up, lots of on stage magic worked into the plot. It was also bloody hilarious.
Making use of our proximity to the Tate Modern, we went to get involved in Oscar Murillo’s interactive “The Flooded Garden”. Viewers are asked to participate in the artwork - we were all giving a brush and left to add whatever we wanted. The effect is pretty cool when you stand back, and the size of the work is enormous, taking up almost half of the massive turbine hall. Kids loved it.
Then, over to Borough Market for food. It was so hot and busy that I couldn’t be arsed spending too long deciding what to eat. Went straight to my usual Brindisa for a chorizo roll. Lush!

@ARNC it was really cool! It’s been ages since I’ve been to the Globe and must admit I had no knowledge of the Wanamaker with the complex. Nice and intimate setting, only a hundred or so seats. Glad it wasn’t in the Globe proper with the kids as doubt they’d be able to stand for long, the lazy little guys..

️ Yes! Love this. Great weather for a day out too.
-
@Mister_Brue it was a beautiful day. I was surprised that I didn’t get too hot in the chore coast as well - the 12oz fabric is very wearable
-
@sabergirl will keep em coming while I have the jacket - thanks for the kind words
-
@jerkules True, but the 120 does get rather warm whilst working in weather like we had today. My workmates are all in t-shirts and they’re starting to think I’m nuts.
-
@Mister_Brue yikes! You’re made of stronger stuff than I.

I was hiking the other day. Heading down the trail at a fairly high elevation rocking my 295. All the people I crossed paths with were wearing running shorts and tank tops etc. Here comes me in my 14 oz denim shirt…defo got some sideways looks. I think I was starting to doubt my own sanity by the time I made it back to the truck.
