Yeah rock and roll is a very specific genre mostly from the 40s and 50s that seeded a number of genres.
Rock Music as a genre would incorporate things like rockabilly, R&B, hard rock, metal, etc. it’s just not an accurate name and indicative that these aren’t really serious music people regardless of being serious music industry people. However how do you handle Run DMC and Aerosmith or Anthrax and Public Enemy or Herbie Hancock Rockit under that banner? My answer is you don’t. You call it popular music and then you include the mainstream popular artists of the time regardless of genre.
I completely agree that it is difficult to determine the boundaries of genres, which is one reason why I think it was stupid for them to attach a narrow genre to the project. Also, probably hard to believe based on what I’ve said here, I don’t think genre is really important in terms of labeling things. I do think the traditions underlying musical genres are important and to be preserved. I love artists who confound genre and can incorporate various genres seamlessly, or even distinctly, into what they do.
My issue is being perhaps too particular about semantics. I like truth in advertising.

I’m probably going to get destroyed for this…. But I find 100% cotton jeans uncomfortable. I need some amount of stretch in my pants. I unfortunately discovered this after buying probably 50-100 pair of Selvedge denim trying to figure out what fit would work for me.

@phillyforager you just stated an unpopular opinion in the Unpopular Opinions thread. You’re not going to get destroyed for that here. You made a comment that supports the theme of the thread. Thank you for staying on-topic!

@phillyforager did the IH Shinayaka work for you?
-
Also some weaves are more forgiving than others. I haven’t tried shinayaka but I’ve had loose woven jeans that had an elastic stretch quality to them.
-
@phillyforager did you try lighter weight denims like the iron heart 14oz? Or other brands that offer 12-14oz denims? I have a 555 14oz in rotation and it really feels stretchy. Whole different world compared to 21oz and above.

@endo was out for lunch with a buddy the day he died, and he was talking about how great eraserhead was. I watched it that night and thought, wow this is the worst movie I have ever seen.
-
hahaha, see everybody! TBH his filmography even for me was interesting, sometimes beautiful. But the stories are such a crap, at least IMO. Horrible, like finding out after 30 or so episodes that Laura Palmer was raped and killed by her father, who was possessed by a demon. An positive exception in my eyes is 'The Elephant Man', but that may be due to John Hurt and the other cast.

Wait what the hell, last time I checked IH didn’t make any jeans with stretch. When did these bad boys come out?! My mind is blown lol
-
@chbronsonx I have tried lighter weight stuff from other makers, there is something about the lack of stretch that sort of hurts my knees and back when I’m moving around or sitting.

Not sure of your cut but they did a lot of cuts in the denim

Prefer rake and shovel to leaf and snow blower

I never liked any of the current popular TV shows like The Sopranos, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, etc.
-
I enjoyed Breaking Bad, but never watched any of those other shows. Not because I didn't like them, but just because I don't have the time or desire to start and watch a 5+ season show at this point in my life. Especially ones where I keep hearing something along the lines of "you just have to get through the first couple seasons, then in the middle of season three it starts to get good!"
Hard pass to that.
Other shows that fall into that category for me are Lost and Mad Men.

@Matt rewatched all of Frasier recently that was a good time. The haunting of hill house was great. Dexter was good.
-
@pechelman I actually agree with you there. It definitely should have ended then.
-
@pechelman that’s exactly when I stopped.
