Hey @alex I really enjoyed hearing your story! And I think the idea about selling used jeans is amazing. I feel extra proud to be an IH fanboy today.

I know stuff commonly gets a name like the "Cutlasshound" or the "Unutucked" but it would be cool of in the product description if it said what crew member(s) came up with whatever idea. It was cool to find out the 19L type 3 was Alex's idea.
Anyway, you guys make it super easy to be obsessed with this stuff. I haven't ever had this much interest in anything like this before, and it is great to hear the 'behind the scenes' story of IH.
I am always excited to put my clothes on, buy new clothes, talk about the clothes on the forum and share my enthusiasm and enjoyment, take pictures of the clothes, sleep in the clothes, and fantasize about what I wish you would make… constantly. It's like what I was saying before about IH transcending just being a mere clothing item and being more of a spiritual experience (for me at least).

Had a long drive yesterday and had the pleasure of listening to both of these.
Both interesting, entertaining and added even more colour to the IH experience.
Great work!

This is really good. Olly is an excellent interviewer and the production quality is first class. Looking forward to episode three!

They did that with the one boot. I agree, though. Sometimes the description has "Original IH Pattern" or whatever, it could also call out if it was spec'd by someone at IHUK. More information = less friction.

Have to give you guys props for a fantastic podcast! Really interesting learning the behind the scenes and about the members of the staff. It was tough when the second podcast ended and there wasn't another. Gives me something to look forward to! Cheers guys keep up the good work!

Another good one. My take on this is that I find it interesting that Brooklyn Clothing is having trouble selling Iron Heat jeans, as looking boring? I would think in Canada they would sell like hot cakes. I don't know the store and in no means am I criticizing it, but I will relate my first Iron Heart experience. In 2014, I was visiting my niece in San Francisco and we went for brunch on Valencia St. Going there I saw Self Edge, which was closed. Leaving brunch it was open. The sales guy was so knowledgeable, I told him what I liked, I walked out with a pair of 633 21 oz jeans. Next day returned and bought a 21 oz type 3 jacket, and another pair of 633. When I got home I ordered their 21 /23 oz. 634. Then I found Iron Heart UK, discovered the 1955 21 oz. and UHR and the rest is history. I will add that on a couple of occasions I have been to Rivet and Hyde, and Junior has always been extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

@ROman I think some of the things being written about six or seven years ago on some of the denim forums have been read by the next generation of denim hipsters and accepted as truth.
There’s this idea that denim has to be selvedge and selvedge has to be slubby and irregular, to be “good”. Seeing as a lot of IH is sanforised and Haraki-san likes a flat, smooth hand, binary based prejudice takes over. PBJ interesting/IH boring.
It is just like the myths about not washing still raising there ugly head regularly.

Thanks for the info @neph93 . I guess I'm not paying as much attention to this as I should.
-
I finished listening to episode two earlier this week and had a good chuckle when @Alex was talking about the buy/sell thread on this forum. I looked down and I realized I was wearing a pair of PIH5DCS that I were previously his.

Danny from Rivet and Hide - Episode is now live….
Danny covers topics as diverse as London fish ponds with British rock pedigree to the effects of Brexit on his business. He talks of how a chance meeting with Giles and Paula in 2011 led to the end of his long-haul career at British Airways and diverted his business plans away from Antipodean coffee culture and straight into the lap of Japanese denim.
-
Stoked! Listening now.

This was yet another great episode, and a really cool look into the backstory of Rivet and Hide.
I visited Rivet and Hide in early 2018, and this was before I knew of Iron Heart (seems like it's been forever). I was really new to this level of clothing and was emailing @Danny RnH from the states (while wearing a pair of Naked and Famous jeans i'll bet) asking what was/would be in stock, if he could hold an item for me, and probably a bunch of other dumb questions that were more tedious than anything for him to answer. He was extremely pleasant and professional to communicate with. Though he was away when I was in London, I had a great visit to the store and left with an Indigofera Copeland that I adore to this day.
Danny I thought it was particularly interesting when you said you wanted your store to be a destination store, and not directly in Soho or similar (for reference, it was about a 10 minute walk from Soho and away from the hustle and bustle). We stayed in the heart of Soho, and I can only imagine the rando's you would have entering your store, fondling your clothes and leaving them in a pile on the floor on a daily basis if you had.
-
@jordanscollected Thanks for listening and glad you enjoyed it.
Nice of you to recall such a positive visit to us back in 2018.
I hope you get the chance to come and see us again -
Great listen @Danny RnH , your story is interesting and inspiring and you tell it well.
-
Very nicely done, @Danny RnH . I have been to your shop in London twice, and have met Junior, always a pleasant experience.
-
Really great episode fellas! Fascinating and inspirational interview @Danny RnH.

@Megatron1505 @zhivago @ROman
Too kind, gentlemen. If I am honest the idea of talking about myself for a full hour filled me with dread when I was offered this opportunity but I was amazed how easy it actually was :o. Glad you enjoyed the podcast. I'm looking forward to listening to many more too. -
I agree with the gents above - fascinating origins story and a true dedication to service and craft!
