EDC - What's In Your Pockets?
-
After a couple of rough months, I decided it's time to treat myself to something nice.
This didn't disappoint!
-
That’s so beautiful @scarfmace Love both the scales and blade shape
-
Finally tracked down an IH card holder at Rivet and Hide. A nice alternative to my Flat Head bifold

@Bored In Breck that looks to be the epitome of solid, good quality kit. The Omega, the BB, the wallet. Is than the USMC sigil on the knife? Who makes that one?
-
@neph93 Thanks! That is just a Benchmade "Osbourne Designed" folder.

Ah… both Benchmade and Zero Tolerance are on my list of brands I’d like to try.
I picked this up a while back, and while my two small MKM knives are my EDC/beaters this fella demands a place in my pocket.

ZT is probably my favorite mass manufacturer brand now and I say that with prejudice towards Spyder because they’re local to me @neph93
My normal DC is a ZT flipper and the action is on par with a custom. Just a great product.

My first “proper” knife was a Spyderco, Para 3, and while I appreciated a lot about it I’ve since discovered I prefer other brands. Having the closing mechanism on the spine of the knife was always an issue for me. Fox and MKM have it underneath and I find one handed closing a lot easier. It was the less Spyderco features of this Smock collab that attracted me to it. The flipper and the button for closing, as well as the blade shape and slender profile.
-
@neph93 @mclaincausey Very cool, Spyderco is local to me as well. Haven’t picked one up for some reason, but I have heard they are great. That pic makes me think I should grab one….
-
Spyderco’s price/performance is hard to beat! I just love flippers and ZT does those so well.
Flipper or no, I love a frame lock mechanism in Ti.
-
I just love flippers
Me too. I didn’t believe this one would work as well as it does. In addition it is much more a part of the knife than the normal, more obtrusive design solutions.
-
That design LOOKS like one of those form over function things. To hear it flips well is awesome! Probably has a great detente, which is what really makes a flipper.

That is exactly what I thought it would be. But it is not the case.
To be clear, the movement is impeccable, but the flip itself needs a little more practice than the more traditional design. However the net result of effective flipping, plus beautiful design, at the cost of the time it takes learning the technique is an easy win.
